Called into town and got a bit wet ,now we've got clear sunny sky the wind is taking the edge off.
Most of the prep for Mrs 73's birthday has been done, lucky Mrs 73 asked for brownies and not a cake. Just waiting for them to cool before packing them away in the tin.

Tosay I have been mostly outside, tidying the patio, sorting rubbish in an outside cupboard, and dodging the showers.

Just now, for a change, I am dodging the hailstones. The showers and hail storms have lasted all of about five minutes each, very silly weather if you ask me.

A quite blustery but dry 25 miles on and off road this afternoon, followed by a shower, cuppa and toast & marmalade. Currently watching Paris - Roubaix on catch-up having fast forwarded through the flat bits until the start of the cobbles.

Despite the worst predictions of the rain radar just one shower so far, which was a touch on the heavy side this morning. The washing largely sheltered from it by a sheet which had blown over the top of rotary airer

All now indoors bar two thick fitted sheets.

Car rear wiper seal sorted. Seems I had put the cheap Chinese one on upside down. Offical Ford one fitted anyway. Snag was the rear wiper was still well stuck once its fixing bolt had been removed. Gave it dosing of penetrating oil which did the trick.

The engineers have been searching for a gas leak for 7 days now.
There seems to be someone on duty 24/7

At least 2 vans, a digger, generator, lights, other stuff. Occasionally management appears and there is a lot of looking and walking up and down. Then tablets are consulted and more probes are driven into the ground.

Their target zone is about 250 m long.
It is marked with amazing hieroglyphs and many investigative probe holes.

They've dug several, many, a lot of 2x2 sized holes and seem to go away for 12 hours
Soon they will have dug up the entire stretch of road.

Part of the problem is records of the location of underground services are not wholly accurate. A nearby village to me was to have one week of roadworks, they went on for many weeks. A contractor had dug the road up for works on one utility main only to find another utility main in the way. To move the one that was in the way however required another utility main to moved first.

Many years ago a bloke came home from holiday and as he switched the light on in his hall a gas explosion blew him out of/ through the front door and partially demolished the house..................He didn't have gas to his house but was 'all electric' and after the explosion there was little or no fire'
It seems there was a leak about 200 yds away and by a freak in geology the gas had filled his house up but not affected any of his neighbours

The recycling bin has been moved to the front of the house ready for emptying on Monday morning. It was done much earlier as I found myself starting to nod off post teatime, so needed to get moving to stop a full evening snooze happening.

Posted some YouTube and uploaded stock photographs this afternoon, as well as getting a half hour ride on the recumbent on the indoor trainer in the garage. It was too windy today, and it blew up some rain just now. I am starting to get the cocky idea that I may be able to ride this recumbent in the wild before too long.
