A very relaxed day has been had - if you exclude the 2 1/4 hours of bike riding that is. Nice little run out to Stowmarket in the sunshine and a bit more of a side wind than expected, then another couple of hours sat with cold beers and a bit of reading before catching the train home.

Other than sorting out the downloads of the books onto the older Kindles, I've done nothing at all this evening and plan on keeping it that way apart from making the evening's hot chocolate in about an hour's time.

That side wind we always get. I have never known a place to get more side winds except when they are head winds on the bike ! We have an enclosed rear garden but it is nearly always windy in it.

Pre work ride has been travelled only 6 miles around town to drop off the soft plastic recycling.
Cloudy cover and damp underfoot but not cold.

Look at the dirt on those wheels!
Is the motor mounted vertically by any chance.

Consider dropping some oil onto the felt pads. They dry up and have been known to stop the shafts running in them. Acting almost as a glue. That worm gear is nice and shiny though.

Thanks. You should have seen it before I cleaned it up.
The driving wheels were bright orange and the whole motor was full of what looked like instant mash powder. I had to dig it out to free up the motor shaft and clear the windings. I brushed rust removing gel on the wheels and then scraped them clean. I didn't know if the windings had survived. I have put oil on the felt pads but they have dried out again.

Morning.
I have just brought our garden waste bin in. It is grey and damp out but it's not raining.
I will be resting today to conserve energy for taking my wife to Swindon to have some laser treatment on her eye.

Last night after successfully testing my electric motor I thought it would help if I cleaned up the wheels by using an electric powered brass wire wheel. The wheels cleaned up nicely so I thought I would see what effect it had. It stopped working! I must have dislodged something. I'll have another look.
