I was watching "Green Signals" this afternoon. The quiz question was "which mainline train journey involves travelling on the "up" line, then the "down" line, and then repeat this, without reversing. on a journey of less than ten miles?".

I immediately thought of Georgemas Junction to Wick and then back to Georgemas Junction, then to Thurso, and repeat. How can I find a timetable on line? If it is single track, does it count as up and down rather than changing track?

Yes, I have done that journey. ^_^

Without reversing rules Wick. Must be some route where a train changes from up to London (usually) line to down from (London etc) line as a result probably of line closures.

I've been on a Train from Derby to Leicester that when it set off I was facing forwards and by the time it reached Leicester I was facing backwards in the same seat (Midland Mainline Sheffield to St Pancras that was parked in Derby overnight for cleaning, refuelling and restocking)
It achieved this feat by travelling towards Nottingham then stopping and travelling towards Leicester on the triangle of mainlines, leaving Derby at @4:45 AM to be the first express out of London at 6:00 AM, there were only 3 passengers and the Train was spotless. The other unique feature of this Train was it being the last intercity 125 with a smoking compartment. :becool:

The last time I decorated I bought some trade paint in white, it was rubbish. Two coats and you could still see under it, never again.

A couple of years ago we used a decorator who insisted on using trade paint to do the hallway. It's been awful; marks far too easily and needs several coats to cover any marks. We only used them because I had too much on.

A day spent completely indoors thanks to the rain - I didn't even pop outside to drop a milk bottle into the recycling bin. I couldn't even do any bike fettling as there's only room in the shed for me and one bike on a workstand, so the other three stored in there would have had to put outside in the rain. Still at least the house is clean enough for another week.

Hyperpole for Le Mans is being watched and the ticket for Saturday at Silverstone has been purchased. Hot chocolate soon.

@Jenkibs - you need either a bigger bike shed / workshop or fettling space inside the house :okay:

Please note that any 'advice' I give may come with associated domestic disturbance.

I sometimes store the bikes in the kitchen if I'm fettling in inclement weather (nobody to argue with if I do this thankfully), but not today when the floor had just been steam mopped. And definitely NOT in the living room with the lighter coloured carpet fitted a coupe of years ago - that wasn't a problem with the previous darker coloured one.
