On Sunday it’s the regional tandem club ride, which we’ve agreed to join.

It’s also Cosford Airshow AND there’s a classic car meet at Trentham Gardens

🙄😬

Food has been prepared for Saturday's day out.
As the first race isn't until after midday I don't need to leave too early, but would like to be on my way as close to 8am as possible so I'm going to have an early (for me) night.

That money will be spent on a ticket to the WEC (Le Mans cars) instead as they have announced a return to Silverstone in April 2027. I'll stock up on thermals in advance.

You might enjoy the opening couple of paragraphs from the chapter I'm currently working on, then...

Silverstone in September. So yeah, it was cold, it was windy and it was wazzing it down with biblical grade rain. And this was the other end of Silverstone, too. Not the posh part of the circuit, with the striking new origami roofed pit complex and swish hospitality suites, but the old end. The worn end. The grubby end, with its cracked concrete, peeling paint and locked up toilet blocks. Endurance saloon car races didn’t merit what the Grand Prix circus got.

It was also eleven o’clock at night, and the race thundered on into the murk. My best friend Poots was out there somewhere. So was Jonathan Kent. The chilly darkness matched my mood as I sat in the grandstand opposite those old pits, wishing I’d brought more pairs of dry socks and a warmer coat.

I have a nice big mug of chai.
