It's been a mild and grey day here chez Casa Reynard, with the odd outbreak of drizzle.
Slept well. Downstairs, fed the cat, made myself a

and took it upstairs to do some writing. Didn't get much done, as I ended up having a whatsapp voice call with a friend who wanted some help and advice.
Chores done at a better hour - except for the washing up. Also took a jar of marmalade from my stores for the lady who gave me that bag of walnuts on Saturday. Jazzed is up with a nice ribbon and tag, and also added a recipe for a walnut baklava, as she said she and her OH had far more nuts than they could ever use. (The ones she gave me are delicious btw)
Had a lovely luncheon of a chunk of baguette with pate and englishman's foot cheese, some melon and a small pot of tea.
After, went lumberjilling, and brought three large wheelbarrows of logs in. Chainsaw is acting up though - dunno if it's because I haven't used it in a while, but when I release the throttle to let it run on tickover, the chain still keeps going round. It should stop, even if the brake isn't applied. Some troubleshooting required, methinks...
Once the logs were safely stashed in the garage, I popped into town. Had a quick sniff around Waitrose to see what was on sticker - there were some nice bits, but nothing I particularly needed or wanted. Sole purchase was a large bottle of washing up liquid in B&M. Did have a nice mooch in there, perusing the festive lines. They had some new design pyjamas in, but annoyingly, all the stock was in circus tent sizes.
Back home. Washed up. Noticed the alizza fruit I'd bought for marmalade was looking rather tired all of a sudden, so prepped that ready to go - will add a couple of oranges from the fruit bowl tomorrow. Alizza fruit are very juicy. Had a taste, and they're like a less bitter grapefruit.
Supper was Polish beetroot soup, then pickled herrings with a salad and some bread & butter. Sort of almost like a mini Christmas Eve dinner! There's some apple crumble if I fancy something in a little while.
Have had a quiet rest of the evening sitting by the fire and watching TV.
