Made it home just before 17:30 which is 3 hours later than a normal return from Nottingham and 1 hour later than planned. I can't even claim a delay repay as my booked route was via Norwich but decided not to use that in case of football traffic delays (Norwich station is very close to Carrow Road and it's a long journey through Norwich to get there by road from the west). As the Ely bound coach wasn't stopping at Whittlesea or Manea making it a shorter time on board (both routes would have got me home at the same time) I took that, only for a broken sensor to cause the driver to have to stop 4 times to try and fix it! So I missed the connection at Ely and still had to divert to Norwich by train otherwise I'd only have got home 10 minutes ago.
Just short of 2 1/2 hours to do the trip. I've done the other direction (Ely-Peterborough) by bike a couple of times via all 3 intermediate stations and only on the back roads in 3 hours moving time for the 50 miles.

The first thing I did when home was to make a much needed strong coffee an a couple of slices of toast. Now to start TV hunting.

A quick Q.. If you have your bike booked in on a train and then it's replaced by a bus.. Then what 🤷‍♂️
Saw this earlier so had a look at Ipswich station - Greater Anglia's policy only states no full sized bicycles on replacement busses, but makes no clarification about folders. Having seen the size, number & weight of the trolley cases loaded to the luggage compartment of the coaches today, I'm not sure I'd want to risk a Brommie in with that lot. If travelling with a full sized bike, it'll be a case of find another way home or leave it at the station and go back for it another day.

@Jenkins I kinda thought it would be no full-size bikes and, yes, I agree about not wanting to slide a brommie into the under belly of a coach!

It was bad enough with my CX stood up in the guards van/luggage part coming back brom Aberdeen. I'm surprised it survived as everyone just piled cases etc around and leaning on it!
