A day of sunshine, showers and a brisk breeze here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well. Downstairs, fed the cat, made myself a :cuppa: and took it upstairs to do some writing. I seem to be continuously writing myself into a corner with this chapter. This is getting a bit annoying. Especially since this deals with background stuff that needs to be covered, but without turning it into an infodump.

Chores done. Also some admin. I now know who I need to poke at e-on to get my meter / hot water sorted without dangling ad infinitum on the phone. Did all the prep for supper and loaded the crock pot.

At this time of year it's easier to defer luncheon if there is garden work to be done. So cleaned the chainsaw again and vacuumed out a load of sawdust. Took it out to do some cutting. A pain to start, and managed to cut a wheelbarrow's worth of logs before it cut out on me. Annoyingly, it needs proprietary tools to strip down and service - which I don't have. You *think* that an allen key would work, but it's just the wrong shape to "bite".

An executive decision has been made to book it in at the local agricultural place (where I originally bought it from) for a full service. It's the one power tool I can't be without, and needs to work reliably. And by the time I fork out for tools and parts, I may as well get it done professionally.

Good job I have a large surplus of logs to feed the heating in the mean time. Plus the tree I'm currently working on really needs to be disentangled from ivy and elder before I can carry on anyways. So always plenty of stuff to do.

I've had a nice quiet evening.

Supper was a fabby homemade lamb, aubergine & chickpea madras with basmati rice.

Now watching "My Cat From Hell"

"Stale" petrol perhaps?

Unlikely. With a patch of woodland to manage, and heating to feed, the saw is in regular use.

If it runs on full choke but not when it is off it seems to point to fuel starvation. The revs are increased and fuel to air mixture is increased with the choke out so I would start looking at the carburettor and fuel feed.

I suspect a clogged air filter given the amount of sawdust I vacuumed out of the bits of casing I could access. I don't have the right tools to strip the saw down and see what the problem is.

The Allen key is the wrong shape. Perhaps it is a Torx fitting.

Clearly has the means and the money it turns out her bother did it too. I'd be lot more impressed if she lived on a council estate on the wrong side of town. Can't help think she's missed the whole point of scouting it never has been about stuff like this.
It's one thing getting all the badges, it's another remembering what was actually done for each one. Sadly she's not alone in the pursuit of badges, and it's no longer frowned upon at a district level. Used to be a case of if any scout troop/cub pack were seen to be "giving out badges", there'd be a check made at district and county level.

I'd say the scout leaders have also forgot what scouting is supposed to. On s side note, the square badges looked neater on the uniform.
