Mostly dry day but some heavy showers.
I had to travel the 21 miles to Craignure this morning but timing was not good as got mixed up with ferry traffic. Some taking a vehicle on and late so hashing on and others going as foot passengers more relaxed as well as early touroid bimbling along.
Anyway I am getting booked in for an endoscope soon. They seem more accommodating than before and will keep me in overnight if nobody handy to bail me out. Even suggesting patient transport if needed.
Need to wait for a definite appointment before working out the logistics.

Oh, and I need to buy a new kettle. The old one has been leaking slightly for a while, and now I know why.

The spout is about to fall off.

The parental cleaned it earlier, and now the water wees out sideways every time you pour.

Not the same problem But it got me thinking.Back in the day when are kettle sprang a leak he yeses to seal it with a metal washer .

Same when the element failed Down to the local electricians for a new element . No dumping items then because they no longer worked

I need a new kettle too, the switch on mine is faulty, so the kettle doesn't always stay on. It's an old kettle and was got second hand when I moved into my current place 5 years ago, so it's done not too badly.
For the moment though, because it still works and the switch is at the base, I just plonk a bag of sugar (which is only there for visitors, I don't take sugar myself) on it to hold it down.

This is ok, as long as I remember to stop it when it reaches the boil... I absentmindedly went off to the toilet one day and came back to find the kitchen filled with steam and my kettle just about launching itself off the counter! ☺️😄

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Dentists: Yesterday I rang the dentist and asked for an appointment for a scale and polish, and also asked if the dentist could look at my right hand front tooth because an old veneer seemed to be peeing off.
No problem.............and she gave me an appointment for 11.15 today. Well that's quick I thought to myself. Top marks.
The full scale and polish is for another day. The veneer would not be NHS because cosmetic work is not covered by the NHS.

So up I trolled at the appointed hour this morning and was called in. After looking at the offending veneer He said the 'rough' on the veneer I could feel and was aware of would simply polish out and it wasn't a veneer at all, (some kind of composite) He does the polishing to sort out the rough area and it feels and looks good. Also another area of the tooth which had discoloured.

All looks good. Here is the point...............He said:

'No charge it was only a bit of polishing and some advice'

I'll lay money those words rarely pass a dentists lips. I was in with him for maybe 10 mins, not long I'll grant, but no charge?

Well done that man.

Next day appointment? My private dentist has a 6-week minimum wait for anything.

I've had this one for 16 years, so have definitely had my money's worth out of it. It was a cheap stainless steel Breville one that I bought after my late father wrecked my very expensive one - simply because it was mine.

Could solder the spout back on, but it may not work and I'll still end up wanting a new kettle.

Bit of a rubbish day really. For some reason I woke up at about half past four this morning bathed in sweat and then couldn't get back to sleep. At work I had to spend the whole morning doing another teams' cargo checks as they didn't have the staff - despite me being the only one on my team, so still had to catch up with my own work when I got back to the office after 3 hours out. At least I gained an extra £4500 for the Government's coffers from my work.

The best part of the day was the commute in with fairly light winds, sunshine & clear blue skies (pity none of these were present for the ride home!)
