It'd be a shame to never have that recipe again, wouldn't it!

I think it's probably got much more in common with snooker, where the pressure, temperature and humidity can affect the way the balls run on the cloth. That's why tournament snooker tables are generally heated these days, as it helps mitigate this. There's actually a story about Alex Higgins wanting a set of balls warmed up in a hot pie display cabinet as they weren't rolling to his satisfaction.

It also affects other things like the speed of the ice (and ultimately the stones), not just the 'swingyness', as previously said.

By the way, the sweeping not only helps with speed, but when done right, can also affect how straight or curled a stone's trajectory ends up too. A good sweeper is just as important as anything else.

I was just thinking back to the first bike I bought and how the colour scheme just left me totally deaf to what was being said by the chap in the shop ! I bought it and still have it after 50 years. I was then thinking about how cycle manufacturers try to make their bikes stand out against their rivals in a shop. For me Matt paintwork or grey colours just don't do it! It needs to be shiny ! It must be the Magpie in me !
I think a nice shiny bike in the right colour scheme would win over against a bike with all the latest fancy gear in a dull colour !

Well, we won the Brownlie Shield, a competition between Dumbarton (us) and Cardross, started in 1954, so nothing major, but on a club level, it's quite nice.

I hope you know how to pronounce Cardross properly with the emphasis on the Card and not the ross bit. I lived there for few years and my late wife came from there. Mispronunciation annoys genuine residents who belong there and not the bungalow colony.

Bright sunny morning with little wind but forecast says drizzle.
I will wait a bit before deciding what to do today as washing machine is on and household stuff needs attending to.
My driving licence expires soon so I need to get on with the chore of renewing it. Probably best done on line and I think that is how I did the last renewal. Need to search out my NI number which they want for some reason.
