There is a number puzzle involving sequences on facebook that seems to be driving a lot of people crazy.

1+4 = 5
2+5 = 12
3+6 = 21
5+8 = ?

I don't think it's that hard, but what do the mundaners think?

That was a very emotional episode of Doctors just now . We were both in tears!

There was the theme of farts on another thread (the 'odd factoid' one... Basically made up facts) and the thing in Doctors caused me to write this:

'When someone dies in a film or on the telly, they have to hold their breath for the rest of the scene, not just for realism, but also because of the farts'.


Totally flippant, I know, seeing the Rob character be in total denial of what was in front of him was sad.

A day of showers of rain seems to be forecast for today Wait a bit and it will change no doubt.

Latest big thing in the islands is the proposal for Marine Protected Areas which will effectively shut down much of the fishing industry. Widespread clearances are forecast and we are all sacrificed to the great god Tourist.
This was tried some years ago in the Sound but got defeated as it meant we could not even go out fishing for mackerel.
Perhaps this topic should be over on the dark side but it is probably not fully understood in urban areas so the wider the spread of knowledge the better.

Locally a momentous day as it's the last day of Craven, Hambleton, Harrogate, Richmondshire Ryedale, Selby and Scarborough councils as they are all tomorrow consumed into North Yorkshire County Council. Less signs to picture a bike against.

The rest of you are all missing out one step in the sequence, jumping straight from 3+6 to 5+8, and omitting 4+7

Me getting 34 is typical of me; quickly finding the principle but not paying proper attention to the sequence. Though, seeing as you've used the word right, only the 1st addition is right and the following lines are all a kind of consistent wrongness.
