Dull cloudy day.
Spent a lot of time reading a book by Gyles Brandreth about his time as an MP in the 1990’s.
Some people live on a different planet from the hoi poloi.
Parliament seems to float along on a sea of booze and full of nut cases.
Winnie Ewing ( an early SNP MP ) had lots of stories about her experiences and thought the tories were mostly gentlemen and very polite towards her but totally removed from reality ( to put it kindly) .
When speaking at committee meetings she learned to check that her chair was still behind her when she came to sit down again as opposition members sometimes quietly slipped it away as they were a nasty bunch.
Unexpected phone call from the dentist that they have a cancellation at 3 o’clock Friday so my broken tooth can get looked at. The dentist is a cyclist and so we have interesting conversations on the best places to cycle.
