Over in Scotland for a few days a nd a change of scenery. Enjoyed a nice ride around the Rhins of Galloway today and spotted a sign that stated the obvious.

10-1 it's for tourists (generally English) who think "here's a nice place to stop" then end up with 2 wheels down the hole. I've seen similar signs in Ireland that say 'Warning, soft verge' near nice views to stop idiots (generally English but often in Ireland frenchies too) from pulling off the road and getting stuck

I've done it myself. Crawling up a steep hill in the South Downs with a car following patiently on my tail, I decided to pull over and let the car pass. Except when I put my foot down it kept on going down and I ended up lying sideways, entangled in brambles. Not quite the appropriate reward for courteous riding!

£100 on the bonds this month. It will pay for Sunday night in Bristol.

Someone did similar on a rough stuff ride, going down a track through a wood with a grass verge on one side, someone decided to ride on the verge then disappeared, all we could see was his head just above the grass, fortunately no damage done.

Morning.
It's grey here and looks a bit blowy again.l
Yesterday I cycled over to my brother's to finish off a bit of spraying on his wheel arch. I was a bit angry with it as it had caused extra work . I flatted it back and masked it up . The gusting wind didn't help. I managed to get several coats of white paint on , better than that white primer ! I told him to throw it away as I don't want to see it again .
Whilst waiting for the paint to dry we discussed bikes. I was saying that I was going along quite fast on my new bike ,17 /18 mph and 25mph trying to get out of the way of a car behind me . I was racing to a wider section of road so they could get by . The speeds were according to my cycle computer thingy . I don't think it can be too far off as the mileage seems correct . For some reason I seem to be able to get the power down to road better than on some of my other bikes . My brother thinks that I have become fitter . I don't think so! I have lost about 8lbs though.
Anyway! I have now done over 60miles on my new old bike and am enjoying it .

Lovely sunny day with light winds but need to get out and sort the chain tube problem on the trike before going anywhere.
Toilets at Craignure ferry terminal reported as closed due to water shortage. Oh dear.
Much whinging on FB about having to queue for the Fishnish ferry which is getting on my nerves so I stuck up a post that it is not news and has often been the case in the past. In fact even with the disruptions we have a better service than at any time in the past. The settlers come here and expect everything to be for them and the touroid they love as they make pin money from them.
I will certainly get lambasted but it does not alter the fact that we are swamped by touroid.
A camper van was overnighting in our residential area but went off early this morning after a neighbour had words with them.

. Train to York for an afternoon of mooching around, train to @Mike_P land where I've got a hotel for a couple of nights. A complete day and the following morning in Harrogate and the surrounding area just wandering around, then back home on the train.
Enjoy and a visit to Knaresborough is a must. You might want to consider a local bus rover ticket that also gets you to Ripley (nice village and Castle) and Harewood House
