33 years ago today Mrs P took pity on a broken second hand Yorkshireman, and she has made a bloody fine job of repairing him.Tonight we will celebrate with a fine curry and a few pints down in Kirkstall.

Happy anniversary! You've been married longer than Kirkstall Brewery has been brewing.

Poured rain most of the day but went out for a short while just to get out of the house.

Ferreting around in boxes I found a couple of old music things [cannot remember the proper names] and spent a while listening to Acker Bilk which brought back many memories.
The Glasgow University Men's Union had him or Ken Barber or The Clyde Valley Stompers on stage many Friday nights.
Myself and then girl friend later wife were there often and had some great nights.
My kind of music.

I forgot I had one to pick up too so just spoken to my watch to remind me tomorrow

Voopsss...

Dispensary here is shut over the weekend, so I've got into the habit of dropping it off on Monday afternoon and picking it up on Friday. Makes it easy to remember and gives mum four days' worth of elastic on her meds.

I am not feeling very well.

Over the last three weeks in this street, there have been Gas Men digging large holes in pavements, using the world's noisiest vacuum cleaner (a lorry) then more digging, with pneumatic drills.

This week the plumber and his mate were making big loud noises, taking tiles off walls, and installing a walk-in shower. Today three men were on the roof installing solar panels, more noises and banging etc.

When they left, my head felt like it was going to explode, so I went to lie down in a darkened room for a four/five hours. Fortunately it is cooler today. I still feel like I have been bopped on the head with a hammer.

Does anyone else feel like this after lots of noise over two or three weeks? This is usually a quiet cul de sac and comparatively light traffic in this market town.

Or is it my age?

You have my sympathy. I am extremely noise intolerant and find it really stresses me out. Where I live was quiet when I moved in 30 years ago but the last few years in particular has got much noisier with vastly increased traffic and nearly every house seems to have barking dogs. I sometimes hanker for going back to village life for the peace and quiet.

Fortunately the gas men only need to replace the pipes to people's houses every ? .. twenty years, and replacing a bath with a shower is a one-off event for me, as is the installation of solar panels. When all those take place over three or weeks, I expect there is a cumulative effect.

The local high school has its Prom Dance this evening, so there will be fireworks at about 10pm.

Bob, the cat, has been upset by the thumpitty bumpitty vibrations. It is a good thing that both Bob and Kizzy are not upset by fireworks or thunder.
