Lovely supper of the last of the alphabet soup, then honey & mustard-glazed pork chops, garlic mash, smoked beetroot, roast baby plum tomatoes and apple sauce made with Murfitt's Seedlings from the community orchard.

So much for strike day - we were down by only 4 staff out of 25 rostered on duty. One was an ex-union rep and another was a manager who'd been forced to change her rest day to attend due to central management panicking about maintaining staffing levels. The current union rep wasn't in either but that was due to today being his non-working day (part time like myself) and so didn't loose any pay. With all leave being refused unless pre-booked by the start of the year, we were better staffed than a normal working day!

A busy but satisfying week so far at work. But I'm already looking forward to cycling at the weekend. Does make me wonder in what things I actually find the most fulfillment. Challenging work well done ..... Or the simpler pleasures of a carefree bike ride?

Ended up nerding on early 1960s Le Mans cars with my historian friend, and the Paul Frere / Olivier Gendebien Ferrari Testarossa in particular. A very pleasant evening. But now it's time to finish my and head off up the wooden hill to bedfordshire.

Good morning. Back to work after a challenging day of way too much interaction yesterday.

Perhaps a combination of the two: the satisfaction of earning the ride after doing a good job.
