Itching to get back on my bike's

We have three clocks here downstairs, they all tell a slightly different time.

We still have a clock that is set 10 minutes fast so as the kids get out on time no kids have lived at home for at least 5 years but we leave like that

Belated cake day at work on Wednesday as I was starting an hour later than normal and had time to stop off and pick up a few bits on the way in, but was disappointed to find the sausage rolls had not been put out on sale at the time. Hopefully there should be a doughnut or muffin left over for elevensies on Thursday if the late shift haven't scoffed the lot.

Had they done a risk assessment?
Did you receive training in cake eating techniques?
Were you required to sign a release waiver agreeing not to hold your employer responsible?

That is nothing, here's something really silly.

In Enderby (where I'm from originally) there was a large shop that was initially a DIY shop and also a large Co-op department store that sold everything from Buttons to Furniture with Clothes, Washing Machines, Carpets/Flooring, TV's, etc but in the 80's all that closed leaving only the food part and the Co-op renting out the rest of the premises that they had built to other businesses meanwhile after many changes the DIY store became a Somerfield. Then the Co-op purchased/took over Somerfield so now it is possible to stand in front of one Co-op and look across the road and up the hill a bit and see another Co-op. I don't think there are plans to sell either building as that would mean the former DIY store would become a prime site for Lidl/Aldi and the other one was built by the Cooperative society sometime in the 1930's but back then Enderby was very much a Co-op small town with various premises owned by CWS (Cooperative Wholesale Society)
In seperate building throughout Enderby there were;
  • Boot and Shoe factory (employing @400 people)
  • Department Store and Food Hall
  • Dairy
  • Garage where they maintained and charged the Milkfloats
  • Bank
  • Butchers
  • Greengrocers
  • Bakery
  • Entertainment Venue (a large wooden building seating @250 people where Plays/Panto's and even once a Circus along with local bands and dances there once the seating had been stacked and removed.
In short you could live there and never need to go anywhere else, Oh and back then there were 7 pubs and 4 clubs and a Cinema.

Sounds excellent.

But now it would be seen as one of those 15 minute communities we are supposed to dread?

Grey misty morning.
Something very odd happened with my Macbook. Got an email with bank details for payment but it then suddenly vanished from my screen and cannot be found anywhere on the computer.
Had to email them to send again but still very strange and I am reasonably computer literate.
Need to hang around for a phone call re the gastric reflux which was particularly bad last night so better to consult.

My solar trickle charger for the car arrived yesterday. I plugged it into the OBD (on board diagnostics) port as the cigarette socket has no power when not using car. Hopefully means I don’t have to take car for a run just to keep battery topped up. Car is 14 years old now, so it’s done it’s depreciating. If public transport and bikes ever got good I’d probably get rid of the car. But as it is, when I do use it, it’s very useful indeed. It doesn’t really do short local trips as I prefer the bike (or walking) for that providing I’m not trying to transport a large thing.
