It's a mk 2 Yaris I'm looking at. Rust and paint problems do seem to be an issue with older Toyotas.

I think I would favour the Yaris over the Aygo as although I don't drive much these days,it will be longer trips when I do. I never drive around town.

I've just reach a point where the Fabia has been so unreliable and caused me so much stress and expense that I just want a car that works and I will never again buy a VAG product. It's not even a nice car to drive.

Bodywork should be good. Our Yaris was good, but I regularly wash the underside on our cars anyway. Longer journeys, then Yaris.

Rust around the rear sills and suspension mounts can be a problem from what I've been told. I could see the evidence of it starting on yesterday's car. It would be fine with some TLC to stop it developing any further but definitely something to be wary of.

I also see a very low mileage Chevrolet Kalos for sale local with a full year's test and looks in perfect condition for a very good price but I'm not sure. I don't know anything about them at all. They never seemed to be popular (although that could be poor marketing or dealer network rather than any fault with the car). I think I'd prefer to pay the extra for a Yaris.

I've just opened my Christmas present, a bottle of Laphroaig. Apparently, I now have the right to claim a free square foot of the Isle of Islay. Just think, I can become an absentee landowner! Just what Scotland needed.

Overcast and I see rain on the other side of the Sound on the Morvern shore.
At least the duller day disguises the fact my front windows are badly in need of a clean outside.
This will involve a battery power hose and squeegee with a long handle as the window base is about 7ft above ground level. They do open inwards for cleaning but the locking mechanism gets a bit stiff with non use and I am afraid the things will not easily lock shut again which is a major problem particularly in winter.
Spend a good bit of yesterday sitting in hazy sunshine in my sun trap watching the birds. Not many around but need to take binocs up to id the more distant ones. I normally keep a pair up there anyway as I seem to have plenty of them.
In the past there was a pair on the house front windowsill as well as kitchen window, workshop, boat and motorhome.

People often decry the local farcebook pages but here they often impart information not available elsewhere. The pharmacy will be closed from next Wednesday till the following Monday so a scramble to check on essential meds as some of the stuff I am on is not normally in stock and I may have to be away for a few days. They ordered some on Saturday which should be here on Monday.
Pharmacist has to go for a hospital visit I think and they cannot get a locum for that short period.

We are wondering if the COVID virus and the pre cancer skin treatment have worked together to give me this problem . I was already treating my skin and didn't know that I had caught the virus .

Bit of rain as I rushed out to cut the grass at the caravan - we had some big patches of long grass that needed a trim, as we aren't down for a couple of weeks, although it's set to be cold, so the grass shouldn't be growing. Took daughter on driving practice round the camp site. It's quite 'tight' in places, but she's due her test in May, so was OK. Struggled a bit with a 'normal' car, rather than a brand new Puma, with hill start assist and hold - the kids never use handbrakes now, other than when parked !

Slept OK-ish, just feel decidedly under the weather. My get-up-and-go has truly gotten up and buggered off. Done some chores this morning, cleaned out Madam Poppy's sore ear and squirted some ointment in it.

Going to have a quick luncheon and then listen to the Grand Prix on Radio 5Live Sports Extra.

I'm on my 3rd Skoda in the last 20-something years - currently a 52-plate Mk1 Fabia estate. I've always found them pretty decent cars - unassuming but capable.

But I guess every manufacturer is capable of turning out a lemon.

If anyone is wondering about The Patient, he is not improving. His cognitive function is going downhill quickly. I can see that anyone could forget that there are chips in a chip pan, and the chips burn. The kitchen ended up full of thick smoke. Okay, so switch off the cooker ring, and take out the chips, then open the back door, kitchen window and lounge windows.

What is the one thing that YOU DO NOT DO after that?
