Not an old wives tale, but nature at work.

Not heard the nest one before, but I'd relatives whose work relied on the weather. In the days before carrying a radio round with you became common. They'd listen at night to the national radio station.

When Foynes was open, they used to use the aircrafts final approach as a means of getting a half decent, more immediate forecast.

Cold and crisp underfoot on the dog walk with blood orange sky for good measure. The snow level is well down from yesterday but Charlie still found enough to enjoy.
Trun's out my boot's are leaking I wear my Sealskinz sock in this sort of weather so not a problem.
Have to see about getting a new pair of boots if I can find a good pair.
