Set riders off into the cold and wet this morning on my Paris Brest Paris 200 audax qualifier. A few abandons in the weather, but majority of field still going as far as I’m aware. Riding down to pub finish at about 4:30pm. After which I’ll spend about 5 hours welcoming them back depending on when last riders make it back. Five hours in pub, wonder if I’ll cope?

@Ming the Merciless - I've done my 200km qualifier, so let a reserve have my place on yesterday's Bomber County 200.

I was able to accommodate everyone who wanted to ride. Given the weather, a few suddenly remembered they were washing their hair today and didn’t start 😂 But seriously no problems with that, it’s done for pleasure up to a certain point.

When you can barely catch anything, that you were picked last for everything, same with football and the foot eye coordination... Oh and NEVER put me in goal!

Been there; I was generally the subject of negotiations along the lines of "We'll take him but only if we get one goal extra"

This was in actual sports lessons of course. I very quickly realised my lunch break was far too valuable to waste playing football.

Nice sunny day and did not seem as cold due to less wind.
Never seemed to stop doing something all day but nothing really useful unless I can count fixing a tube to take my flag pole on the trike.
Still trying to figure out some easy way of fixing a small bag for phone etc and the important telescopic walking stick as well as some basic tools and a couple of inner tubes.
Sat in the sun in my sheltered corner for a bit this afternoon listening to some birds, mainly blackbirds I think. The dozens of house sparrows stay further down nearer the houses and are nest building in the attics.
Some brambles got cut back as they would take over if not cut back early. Hands now got lots of scratches.

Not sure what the weather did for much of today, as I spent most of it indoors. it definitely rained overnight though, as things were decidedly squelchy outside.

Did not sleep well thanks to the whole too hot, too cold thing, but did drop off eventually. Had a quiet morning trying to sort out the issues with my mailer. Gave up and fettled a gmail account so I can communicate with people in the interim. Part of the problem is the Bay of E dumping a gazillion unnecessary notifications in for every item I browse. There has to be some way of turning that off...

Had a quick luncheon of cream cheese on toast, then off to Tesco for the Sunday afternoon reductions. Did surprisingly well, and came home with a large tray of pork steaks, three packs of sausages (two pork, one beef), two packs of fishcakes, four salmon portions, sausage rolls, yoghurt, custard tarts, green beans, watercress, mushrooms, a swede, two punnets of tomatoes, two punnets of nectarines, two nets of limes, plus croissants, olive rolls, ciabatta rolls and a couple of posh bakery breads.

Happy that Cambridge won both boat races, that England beat Ukraine 2-0, and that I won the auction for three issues of of a stock car magazine that I was after. Was the only bidder as the condition wasn't good, but it's the information in them that's the important bit. Haven't yet gone to pay for them, I hope my card plays ball this time... It's a UK seller, and one that I've bought stuff from before, so there's always the option of sending cash or a cheque.

Pasta bake for supper, with some fresh fruit for afters.

Now plan on a nice relaxing evening.
