Another overcast day here chez Casa Reynard, but it is trying SO hard to be warm and sunny.

Slept OK-ish. Spent the morning on the research - have finally worked out a suitable format for the timeline. Have also sorted out ingredients for supper. A slight change of plan there, as a bag of new potatoes were in danger of developing language skills. Ergo I shall have to cook those rather than do the jacket potatoes I had intended to do.

This afternoon will be spent dealing with strawberries.

Anyways, it is time for luncheon.

OMG, my day has been made! might as well quit now & go back to bed

went to the big home improvement store, with a surface cement chip, from Mom's front porch, where I made a patch, that didn't match. got some "anti slip, porch paint" & they colored it, to match the chip! omg I'm hooked! now I want to play this game again!

anyway, I am happy today. how it looks on Mom's porch, I can't actually say, right now

Warning !
Do not use Halfords white primer aerosol! I have just spent a couple of hours repairing and then washing off a mess it has caused . I was repairing the inner arch door jamb on my brother's car . I had sprayed white on it before but when my brother closed the door to lock the car the door rubber left a mark in the paint. I wet flatted the damage which could have polished out but I decided to just spray a couple of coats on to give me enough thickness so it wouldn't polish through .
My brother handed me the aerosol can which he had been shaking . I assumed that it was the white paint . I sprayed a coat on and immediately the paint pickled up! The paint had separated like porridge which had been made and left for a couple of hours! I couldn't understand it and then I noticed that the can said primer ! Even if it was it shouldn't have reacted to what had previously been put on ! It had the effect of cellulose paint going onto freshly painted oil based enamel ! I was furious to put it mildly!
I decided to wash it all off with cellulose thinners and start again . Once clean I had to prime the filled area . I used the primer this time . It doesn't cover ! It has the hiding power of water , it has no body . After 4 coats I could still see the filled area . I decided to use the white top coat aerosol instead ! This started to hide the filler . I left the paint to dry overnight . I will flat it tomorrow and finish off the repair .
If you want to ruin all your hard work by all means use their white primer . I will stick to using the grey primer .

I was partly correct when I said we had a water shortage and some businesses were cut off. There is in fact plenty of water but the treatment plant cannot cope with demand. Another benefit of the tourist industry.
When we came here all those years ago when I did photography and washed prints in running water in the bath there was some interesting wildlife as well as water came out of the tap. There was primitive filtration but nothing else which did not do us much harm tho' it was better to filter the water before drinking.
Just as well I had to go to Oban on Tuesday as today the ferry I used has been taken out of service for repairs. Chaos reigns again and an extra run is being done late afternoon by a ferry which happens to be spare for a few hours. First come first served basis and no booking.
One thing I did notice in Oban was that there are more local cyclists in the gridlock as it is the only way to get anywhere. There were always a few but the increase is noticeable as well as more touring cyclists.
On the cycling subject this Sunday is our local Sportive with two courses and apparently a massive entry. I am no longer involved as the organiser has his own preferred team and I am now surplus to requirements.
Did a little work in my garden and got a tick which was making it's way up my leg. They make a very satisfying crunch as you squash them between two fingernails. Birds apparently carry them but a neighbourhood cat I see sometimes may be the carrier. Deer have now been excluded but ticks can wait a very long time in a state of suspended animation so it could be from before I got the deer defenses more secure. I am going to take a pair of wellies up there and keep them for use in any vegetation as a form of defence against tick attacks.
