I turned on the coffee grinder this morning without the container in place, spraying ground coffee four feet across the kitchen.

Dunno whether to laugh or go "whoopsssssssss"

:hugs:

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
29 deg C in Leeds:heat:

Which is surprising because when we left for a short break on Thursday morning it was 11 degs C

It's hot - I'm in Roundhay for geasstrack racing;

Found a hedgehog this morning laid down outside - hedgehog rescue weren't answering and the RSPCA were shut so I moved it somewhere cooler. It's had water and food, shuffled off a bit and I'll give it fresh food this evening if still there.

I think this has happened to others because the newish one I have won't work without the container lidded and in place. The bean holder won't work either unless the lid is firmly in place. I suspect the machine is just looking for ways of not working.

Any idea if the racing has always been anticlockwise there?

Mine is a Krups burr grinder. The on/off switch packed up a year ago (it's incredibly common on that model. Youtube has few clips of how to get round it). I discarded the outer casing and it works fine ,albiet with a small risk of electric shocks. There used to be electrical interlocks to prevent it running if the feed and ground hoppers are not closed. I probably just need to clean the insides with a brush or something.

My new one, a DèLonghi replaced my Krups, which also managed to dispatch the switch unit into its innards. But yes, that one also needed to to have the ground bean container in place. I never tried taking it apart, or hot wiring it, fear of what might happen operating it half awake.... (After all, being half awake is one of the prime requirements for drinking coffee.) The new one feels a lot more solid than the Krups.
