Today's 73 plate truck, collected from the nearby garage as it'd been serviced (you know this as the steering wheel is greasy) has 117653 kilometres on the odometer and was supposed to take me to Sittingbourne but the trailer was not roadworthy so, instead, plan B saw me off to Fakenham.

Let me relay news of an altercation with a policeman yesterday. I was in the inside lane, with him on the outside, in slow moving (crawling) traffic. He wasn't indicating. He was say half a car length in front of me, when he stuck on the blue lights and siren, held up two lanes of traffic, and threatened to charge me with driving without due care and attention for failing to let him in to my lane, and for failing to see a non-existent sign. He wasn't even signalling! We had at least 15 minutes of arguing, with him being very rude and sarcastic. I must have said "I'd have happily let you in if you'd let me know that that you wanted to change lanes" at least 5 times.
I apologised, but have no idea what for.
I'd something similar years ago.
Indicating my intention to slow down and stop, around 75 yards from the junction/road dropping away and down to my right. I pulled in as planned, only to have the driver of the following car have a go at me for stopping. He had intended to pass on my left and turn off the main road.

The other, older, officer in the passenger seat was sat there within earshot, with a big grin on his face as I explained that I had clearly signalled my intentions, that undertaking on an approach to a junction, given the signal from the vehicle in front, wasn't advisable. And, that if I had planned on going to the right and down, no signal was required from me as I'd still be on the main road, not turning off it.

Nothing surprisers me having seen the state of some police cars get into parked up in the compound. The standard of many is poor , the driving standards of Ambo's is even worse. Knowing a good few trainers it's not a surprise.

You take very small steps then?
That number of steps is over two miles.

Monday isn't the weekend though. It's forecast for the weekend.

More like 3 miles, just strolling around town. Was mild & damp when I left, due to just be cool on Sunday with the worst weather on Monday.

Edit - now at Peterborough waiting for the Ipswich train, so about half way home.
