Still absolutely stuffed from dinner many hours ago. Haven't even had the leftover sausage rolls that mum gave me to take home, just a mug of coffee & pint of squash.

I managed to escape for 26 miles.

Lucky so & so - all I've managed to do is this morning's walk and the 7.5 mile round trip to mum's. Hope the weather's better on Thursday morning so I can get out for a ride before doing today all over again with my sister and her lot present as well.

One of the problems being at my parents is that they set the heating to a level more usually found in a blast furnace.

Been missing for a few days.

On Sunday I got my right hand index finger sliced and crushed by equipment I was looking at.

Cue a dash to the A&E with what was left of the finger, x-rays, iodine and a move to the hand surgeon.

Monday I had plastic surgery and a skin graft.

I'm now recovering and am back for a progress update on Friday, with probable further operations.

I'm right handed and in a full cast. No riding for some time at least.

What equipment do they use that could do that sort of damage.

It sounds like you were more than just looking at

What was it and what were you doing ? I spend a lot of time working with potentially dangerous machinery and I know I get complacent, and I know that is when accidents happen! - so gruesome stories are good for me, they make me take more care

@Marchrider - I pointed at the part on a smart turbo that needed adjustments and my hand got sucked in. Wasn't even touching it.

Big lesson learnt.

And typing one fingered with my left hand is a pain.

Credit to the surgeons though - during surgery they offered a skin graft to save as much as possible. I'm hoping it's not too bad.

Apparently some don't agree to one and prefer to lose more of a finger than have the skin graft recovery and subsequent operation/s needed . Me: I said save as much as you can and they're hopeful they did.

smart turbo? is this a car part or bike trainer

engine turbo probably doesnt seem to be sucking that much air, but get your hand in the way and restrict flow and the air speed could easily double
