Took mrs ck for eye test and yes she needed new glasses
She needs varifocals and transition lenses so you can guess how much ! In the end i signed up for the payment plan where if you have 2 pairs you get 20 % off , free eye tests and pay over 24 months .

Wifey sat on her new $900 glasses last month while we were camping & bend the frames. Had to scramble to find a shop to straighten them & they did an OK job. However, she also has insurance, so when we got home, she brought them to where she bought them & they replaced the frames completely. Whew!

wow, very good! reasons to be proud! & yes, war is ridiculous

They had come up with the idea, and quotes were taken from servicemen, and the end quote 'What have WE done' is very poignant. My daughter was an animator on this, so all the text you see (animated) and the various animated highlights (e.g. the scythe in the jungle, the bullets on the gun). All the film was taken from IWM's archives. Big job re-rendering it all in 4k and also improving the audio.

Woke up and went to the loo and i had to go and lie back down as my back seized up , i did spend maybe a couple of hours yesterday trying to get a leylandi stump out and resorted to using a drill to make a series of holes in the base as the saw the neighbour lent me which is a bit of beast was not having much luck.Im thinking the sap and wood texture were not what the saw is designed for and the drill bit was smoking like it was about to set the stump on fire with friction !

you're not alone. you tube has so many fun stump removal videos. I just grabbed the 1st I came across

managed to get it going with a stretch session then finished the stump after lunch , went up to the locally owned diy store asking for stuff to stop stumps regrowing and the guy recommended one saying ignore the dilution instructions and put it on neat .The bottle says it does 16 stumps so i just put the whole lot on after i had drilled holes into the stump.

Sunny start but only 17. Cycled to WAH as the ebike found itself once again at the Waitrose bike stands at 8.20 while I acquired a copy of this weeks store paper and purchased 3 bananas and 2 pints of milk for £1.35.
Clouded over and got warm.
Now for once its warmer indoors than out.

It's been a very hot and mostly sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Did not sleep well. Working on a really tricky part of my novel (where my main character falls out big time with another character over some skeletons in the closet which, incidentally, aren't her fault, but she's being blamed for it anyway) and brain is refusing to switch off. As a result, I've felt rather bleurgh today.

That said, I've been mega busy. Cleared up all of yesterday's shopping, watered all the planters, made some more plum butter, Sorted out a load of junk in the garage for the tip, dropped off a piece of apple pie, some of the bacon and half a dozen apples for a friend, picked up the load of stuff she wanted taking to the tip, wrote and posted a Cake Day card, sorted out ingredients for tonight's supper - including prepping some veg that were in serious need of using, dropped off a box of books at the book exchange in the village and did the tip run. No time for luncheon.

Did anyone else hear the whacking great big sonic BOOM just before midday? A couple of Typhoons from Coningsby were scrambled to escort a plane into Stanstead.

The tip sales area bikes are largely meh and seriously overpriced - they're still living in cloud cuckoo land as far as second hand bike prices are concerned. They did have a few nice vintage Dawes though, and a really nice 16 inch frame GT Aggressor hard tail. I'd have bought the latter, but they're asking £80 for it, and it needs all the usual stuff done to it. If it had been £40, I'd have bought it. And thoroughly annoyed the parental unit - who has not grasped the concept of N+1...
