I dunno, 1066 worked out well for some of my people, not so well for others.

I assume that ‘my people’ were serfs, so no battles ever worked out in their favour, regardless of which monarch won.

Nope... Savoury sandwich of bread & butter, filled with what you lot over t'other side of the pond call potato chips.

And to add to the confusion, what we call chips is what you lot call fries...
You could call it a chip buttie then, but you'd have to explain 'buttie' although given what a butt is over there perhaps not!

Still no sign of rain here, but it's clouded over completely and the breeze has picked up a bit so I'm glad I got out for a bit earlier. Don't know where all the traffic came from - yesterday it was almost more bikes than cars and today there's traffic everywhere.

A shower followed by a second coffee and a slice of toast have been had so I think I've earned an afternoon on the sofa with my feet up, the radio and the Kindle.

Back here for a morning session for the first time in a few weeks. SWMBO gave me a bug that's lingered (thanks!) so we'll see how it goes.

A decision's to be made whether I race when track league re-starts and where I race (Derby or Manchester).

I see that the PM's popularity has improved and one person has turned up to one of his meetings?

Oh I have had fun this morning!
Trying to feed the cables through the frame. I already had some wire in position but it does help if you pick the correct cable. I made sure that the ferrule was fed onto the cable first and then fed the cable through the outer, next I taped the gear cable to the wire and pulled it down through the frame and through the bottom bracket and thought the chain stay. This is where I discovered that it was a brake cable ! Doh!
I pulled it all back out and started again.
I eventually connected up the cable to the rear mech and then fitted the chain. The rear mech is one I salvaged off my old bike , it is an 8 speed for a 10 speed set up. I have adjusted the stops so that it covers all 10 gears. It seems to be working so far. I've got to sort the brakes out next.

We had quite a sharp shower this afternoon. It didn’t last long but it was the first proper downpour we’ve seen for months.
