How do they know that a building is only a stones throw from the beach?
Are they incoming or outgoing stones?

Grey, breezy and damp late afternoon/early evening back here in Suffolk.
The overnight bag has been emptied, fresh stuff substituted where necessary, repacked into the smaller overnight bag and placed by the front door ready for Sundays away day. Meanwhile I need to catch up with the last minute of the Dutch GP qualifying as that's when the train went through a signal dead spot and the onboard Wi-Fi wasn't working.

It's been a mixed bag weatherwise here chez Casa Reynard. Started off warm and sunny, now it's blowing a hoolie and raining.

Sleep was middling, as my back wasn't enjoying things. Had a gentle choresy morning, before taking Rocky the Hardtail out for a test ride to see what I thought. Have to say, he's a very nice bike and he's definitely staying. Max the MTB won't enjoy having to share the off-road / winter duties LOL!

A lovely luncheon of stilton & tomato chutney on toast, an apple, some avocado and a :cuppa:

Then off to the community orchard to pick some Morley's Seedlings (cookers) and Wayside (dessert) for storage, as they're both varieties that keep well. No one really picks either of them, so it's better to take them and use them than see them go to waste. A few damaged ones escaped my on-tree triage, and so another crumble is in the offing.

It's been raining more or less since I got back at tea time. Rugby was watched.

Cat has been fed, and now it's time to feed me.

After sitting all morning waiting for the rain to stop and it didn't, I drove into town and got something to eat and then visited the museum, which is in the engine shed of the former railway station. The station building itself is now a hotel. Amazing just how big the station complex was for a small town. Good to see it being preserved and re-purposed. The water tower has been preserved too.

Museum very interesting. A lot given over to Alcock and Browne as you would expect I suppose as they crashed their Vickers into a bog after the first transatlantic flight. I hadn't realised Alcock was killed in a plane crash a few months later. Also a lot on Marconi who did a lot of his radio experiments from here.

What they had labelled as a 1920s Triumph bicycle is actually a Royal Enfield.

The rain had stopped and I thought about going out on the bike but went to Connemara National Park and climbed Diamond Hill instead. Seriously stormy up there!

why yes, I do ride a bike
