It's getting dark already.

Another uneventful train journey home although I was surprised to see the London-Norwich train fairly full - just where was everyone going? The overnight bag has been emptied and the consumables refreshed ready for next week's outing. And I did remember to stop at Decathlon on the way to the train station to pick up the new waterproof jacket.

An evening catching up with things on here and TV is in prospect along with sorting out a ticket for Sunday's Formula Ford Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone.

Expensive day. One of the two slow punctures on the car turned into something more serious. Limped home from work visit at 3, rang a local tyre place, bring it in at 3.45 which I did and back home within an hour with two new tyres.
Just checked door bell, push button okay but internal part totally dead. Battery tester said all three were in need of replacing, often find one is still.okay.

It's been a breezy and not too chilly day here chez Casa Reynard. But where did all that rain come from? It wasn't forecast!

Slept well enough. Today's intended outdoorsy stuff was canned on account of the rain, and so I had a kitchen-ish day instead. This year's walnuts (other than the ones I foraged yesterday) are now dry enough to be transferred from the cardboard trays to a hessian sack for storage. What's left of last year's crop is now in a rather spiffy-looking basket. I also picked through my trays of tomatoes in the utility room - had to wang a couple, but the ripe (and overripe!) ones were picked out and brought into the house.

Lovely luncheon of a cream cheese & chorizo sandwich, a tangerine, some strawberries and a :cuppa:

This afternoon's main task was to turn the aforementioned tomatoes into a large batch of sauce. Some will go to pad out the remainder of the potato & sweetcorn chowder so there's enough for supper, but the bulk of it will be diverted into a pasta bake tomorrow. For which I've taken some beef mince out of the freezer.

Fire has been lit downstairs, and I'm about to make myself a :cuppa:

A bit of a waste of a day off work. I did go for a four mile walk first thing this morning but then the weather rapidly deteriorated. I had hoped to get out for a ride but couldn't motivate myself to go out in the (light) rain. I just felt tired. I've had problems sleeping in the past few weeks thanks to work and it had really caught up with me these past couple of days. I just spent the day doing a little housework, reading a bit and nodding off to sleep!

Now trying to do some writing.

Oh, and I have an email from the US Embassy. I wonder what they want...
