I did some grocery shopping after work. Only two more days of work left this year!

I repaired my drill, which was a bit temperamental the last time I used it. The power cable was starting to break where the flex grip holds it where it enters the drill body, so I cut a couple of inches off it and put it together again. All good now.

No more domestics other than some washing to do until next year.

Once I'd got everything completed I went out for a walk only to realise half way round that I'd not prepared the food for tea, so I ended up just having a bowl of soup and some toast as an evening meal.

The evening's hot chocolate will be had in a little while and then possibly an early night as I feel knackered.

It's been a grey, damp and quite mild day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well. Lady issues are heading out of the door, which helps. Did all the basic chores, and then off into town to run some errands (I had a birthday pressie to post) and sniff around the sales again.

The butcher had some very nice bits on clearance - people ordered for Christmas but didn't collect. Alas I don't have enough room in the freezer for such. I did seriously contemplate the £3.99 pheasant, but I'd have had to cook it straight away and there's just too much stuff in the fridge. So it stayed where it was.

Had more luck in Mountain Warehouse, where I bought a pair of waterproof walking boots in the sales - the same kind as last year. In a way, it's a bit like bike saddles, when you find what suits, stock up, cos they sure as hell will stop making them LOL! Unlike last year's screaming pink ones, these are lilac. Still not great colourwise, but there's a £20 saving compared to a black pair. B&M yielded another pair of pyjamas (down to £4.50) and a pair of fleece leggings.

I didn't *mean* to go to Tesco, but as I was driving past, I figured I could as well stop. I had another snaccident with some cheese on clearance (FFS, I really MUST stop buying cheese!), but also acquired three trays of pigs in blankets, a large pack of cooked chicken and a box of breakfast cereal.

Came home to snaffle a very late luncheon of pate on toast, a tangerine and a :cuppa:

Then changed the dressing on my leg. It's *finally* stopped weeping, and is starting to scab over. The area over the bone is still red and swollen, but is itchy as opposed to painful. And the stitches are still holding, so we're winning.

Had a lovely evening watching "The Hunt for Red October". I haven't seen that film in a few years, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I first encountered the story in the shape of the Tom Clancy novel. Must find myself another copy...

A good supper of cold sliced lamb, roasties warmed up in the deep fat fryer, braised red cabbage and some mushrooms.

And a nice quiet evening by the fire is planned. I do require more tea, but first need to go make room for it.

The fleece-lined thermal leggings are going back to B&M tomorrow.

Bought the largest size as I don't mind baggy for relaxing around the house, but the damn things are made for stick insects, and I can't get them over my hips. Well actually, the legs and waist are so narrow that I struggled to get them much past my knees. FFS, I'm a size 10 and eight and a half stone wet through, so XL-sized leggings should have ample room.

Used to buy bodywarmers and sweatshirts in L(Large), they now require a XXL or XXXL. Which are the same physical size as the L I used to buy.

Sizes are all over the place, there's just no consistency. Peacocks have gone the other way - a size that used to fit me very well is now way too big and in circus tent territory. It makes no sense.

I'll have to look elsewhere for thermal leggings.

Seems Amazon are cutting deliverys. Tried to order two items with free non Prime delivery but as one is not in stock until late January/early February the other was not being supplied until then. Cancelled and reordered the in stock item with two others. Delivery now this week.
