I have been instructed to go on a long cycle ride, later today now. Management is off to meet SIL. That will be an expensive lunch that we pay for.

I shall go to Margate, it's a dump but the
'spoons is fascinating.

Then I will return by train.

I have to let the management think that I've also had an expensive lunch somewhere. ' spoons will never fool her and I can't drink enough any more to make the bill look appropriate.
She'll know a credit card transaction at Screwfix or Tools R us is not for a meal.

Need some créative sleeping, conniving. Or an expensive, good restaurant in Margate. Improbable.
Having been to that one a few months ago, is it the 'Spoons itself or the clientele that's fascinating - especially what appeared to be a non-legal smoking materials delivery service being provided outside?

It does look to be chaos around Ipswich, doesn't it! Glad I'm not working today as that's a road I often use.. 🤷‍♂️

What's not shown on the AA traffic map are the back roads that can be used as diversion routes and you can guarantee that they're jammed solid as well. Looks like I'll be doing a local bike ride today instead - once it's warmed up a bit.

Couldn't possibly comment. Being tempted by Angie's. But my suspicious nature doubts the reviews
Just need bike security, probably personal protection. The Oxford folding lock is a bit heavy to drag all that way. But needs must.

I know the back roads but most are weight limits or all the box-jockeys would be using them 😂

Took the bus to Morningside then an 8 mile mostly country walk to get home, including a cafe stop for tea and cake. Cold and grey but enjoyable.

Unfortunately the weight limits appear to have been ignored, plus the Trimley villages (which normally have a 7.5 tonne limit) are the official diversion route when the parallel sections of the A14 are closed. I've just submitted a report to the council about one narrow back road which is now covered in mud & stones and has had the edges ploughed up leaving up to 6 inch drop offs from the tarmac surface as a result of being used as an unofficial diversion. The official diversion also included a single track with passing places designed for local traffic only and apparently is even worse!
I also spotted one car with a stoved in offside rear where the road narrows near the Post Office.

Edit - turns out the truck driver died during the incident
