I suspect this isn't the hole story:

I feel like ripping the phone out. I had just nodded off just after 1 when my brother rang and I couldn't get back to sleep. I was just trying to have nap now and my wife rang. I had better not try again as I have got to go out to have my shingles jab.

I had two landline phones, one of them was for my electrical business. The other was for my wife and me, and our two daughters. They were still at school and I'd hear the phone ringing late at night. They would also call their friends and talk past midnight despite my forbidding them to make calls that late, so I fixed it. I ran the phone lines to two switches in my bedroom closet, and when I went to bed around 11, I'd turn their phone line off. In later years they told me how it made them annoyed to find the phone was dead. ^_^ Sometimes I'd turn off the business phone, too, because I was just too tired to go out on service calls at midnight or later.

The main use for my landline has been to ring my mobile so I know where I might have left it.

Ditto

Another 4 day weekend commences. Was going to be Friday only off but the antique work software is being given life support on Monday.

Yes I feel like unplugging ours from 12 to 2.

You may be awaiting an explanation of the reason for my time travel.

My appointment today was at a small hospital built in 1939 as an Emergency Medical Services Hospital, and used by the RAF during WW2.

It is now a community hospital, (with a minor injuries unit).

Considering its age, it was in remarkably good condition. It is mostly single storey buildings, which would have been easy to build. Presumably they are easier to maintain, despite their age.

I was seen within five minutes of my appointment time. The person doing the ultrasound was able to confirm good news. I said I thought I would have to wait two or three weeks for results. She responded that she would be writing the report, and therefore could tell me the results.
