Oh F***
Heading up the A140 and the car's dashboard starts flashing up various warning lights, then messages about the charging system and then cuts the power and I only just made it to the BP garage at Diss.
I think the battery may have finally given up or the alternator has gone as there's not enough juice t turn the engine over.
RAC have given an estimated arrival time of nearly 11pm at the earliest.

Reminds me of 2006 taking a Seat Ibiza in for a service and its first MOT, every warning light on the dash came on. Was resolved by the garage resetting whatever computer system it had to think it was brand new.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
It was a very wet ride today at the Chirk 200km audax: https://www.strava.com/activities/17408990267 Well organised as usual.

Who maintains Cheshire's potholes? Or rather doesn't.

I seemed to spend more time avoiding potholes / floods / gravel / mud / cow pats / potholes in floods than actual proper riding.

It's been a grotty mixed bag weatherwise here chez Casa Reynard. Hosing rain, snow for a couple of hours, then more hosing rain. Cold, miserable, a real indoors day.

Slept well enough. Only did the absolute minimum on chores as I just wasn't in the mood. Got the fire going nicely from the banked embers as the house was chilly. Have largely spent the day watching the action from Milan-Cortina and listening to the FA Cup footy.

Lovely luncheon of a cheese toastie, an apple, a banana and a :cuppa:

Followed by more sports and keeping an eye on a couple of Bay of E auctions for watches I was interested in - I didn't buy myself anything for Christmas as I didn't see anything I fancied, and my Cake Day is next month. Was outbid in one auction and decided not to bid in the other, as it had already gone higher than I was prepared to pay. Well, the latter wasn't expensive, but by the time you factored in a new crystal, an ultrasonic clean (yes, it really was *that* skanky) and the correct bracelet or a decent new strap, I'd be better off sitting on my hands and waiting for one in better condition.

Fabby supper of "everything" soup, followed by broccoli & oyster mushroom egg fried rice, and crispy chilli (gochujang) tofu with sesame and soy. :mrpig:

Just settling in for a quiet evening's writing, although I am in need of more tea.

Unusual sight this morning from the kitchen window - I heard the sound of a freight loco on the rail line which was unusual in itself as there's no freight movements on a Sunday and looked out to see 2 of the old class 66s then 2 of the new class 99s pulling a full 36 wagon container load so it looks like trial runs of the new units are being held on the line.

I've yet to see any of the new Class 99 out this way. Hopefully soon.

Poodo. Are you still stuck out there? Do you need anything?

Back from emergency dentist, now you might have heard the old joke, there is nothing wrong with your teeth, your gums have to come out.Well guess what it's a gum infection. So a good old teeth brushing and floss more, should be ok in two or three days, plus an introduction to a local dentist taking patients, and that is on the same street as the fish and chip shop.So i ca have my tea and a pint tonight without slobbering down my front.

GWS, Watch yourself, take care.
(I'm not a dentist, but I did pass tools in an emergency once)
