It's been a lovely sunny and spring-like day here chez Casa Reynard, and it appears we escaped the bulk of the overnight rain.

Did not sleep well. Lady issues, cramping back & hips, too warm and some very odd dreams all conspired against me. Ah well, hey ho. The usual choresy morning was had, including taking the vacuum cleaner for a walk upstairs to deal with escaped cat litter.

Lovely luncheon of haggis on toast, an apple, a pear and a :cuppa:

Spent the afternoon lumberjilling. Cut up two heaped wheelbarrows of logs, and have liberated the remainder of a very large bit of conifer (we're talking close to a foot thick where it split from the main tree). It is now safe at ground level, waiting to be turned into logs. I think I shall keep some of it by for Christmas (yeah, I know!) as it smells so nice when it burns. It now means I can access the dead cherry tree nearby, and I shall begin dismantling that tomorrow. I can take off some of the larger lower branches first, which will mean fewer chances of dingle-danglage when I fell the main stem.

The chocolate spread from Aldi (from their Valentine's Day range) is ok. I've had better, I've had worse. I do find the heart-shaped sugar sprinkles annoying and not that nice, so next jar that gets opened, I shall scrape them off the top and binize them. For that reason, I shan't be going back for another flat of them, even if they are only 29p for a 200g tub on clearance. The six jars I bought will last me a little while anyroad.

Lovely supper of leek & stilton quiche, new potatoes and garlic roast pumpkin.

A quiet evening is planned.

We got an email from the handyman who had failed to show up for a previously agreed small job. He said he was sorry but his no-show this time was because he had been in A&E being treated for a nasty spider bite on his foot.

9/10 for originality!
