Evening.
The weather brightened up this afternoon. Sunshine , blue sky and a few clouds, the wind was still a bit chilly.
This morning I made a tool to try to remove my seized crank. I bought a brick bolster yesterday and today I ground it down so that the blade was angled to form a wedge, I then cut a slot in it to clear the BB axle. I tried the tool on the drive side crank and after a few hits the crank came off. The non drive side is being a bit more temperamental, I need to open the slot some more.

A bitsas supper of bacon & lentil soup, then quiche, fried potatoes, peas, carrots & pumpkin.

Other than a little bit of quiche, all the leftovers are gone.

Grandchildren were at their mums last night, their first sleep over with her for two years, i think shes proved herself by now. So, while I had a night alone, inevitably I woke at 3am, 4am still awake, got up, took dog for a walk and picked 3 carrier bags of litter.
Thats something I used to do every work day (well a bagfull back then) but now retired and with the kids, I can't get out on my own anymore...so I've effectively stopped. Nice to do it again.
Back to sleep at 5am...awoke at 9.30, up at 10.

There was a welcome 10-15 minute spell of quite warm sunshine as I was on the way back from Ipswich this afternoon - it helped dry my jacket & leggings which had got damp in yet more drizzle on the outbound leg.

Other than that very little has been done except sitting around, listening to the radio, drinking coffee and making tea (sausages, new potatoes & peas). More of the same lazyness will follow after the evening's imminent hot chocolate as there's Indycar qualifying in about 35 minutes followed by a catch up with some of the recent episodes of Fallout on Amazon accompanied by cold beer.

Little follow-up to the problems I had with the RAC not attending my breakdown the other week.

I sent them a complaint laying out the full timeline and requesting a refund of the call out fee and my train fare back to collect the car and they've just responded. I'll be getting a cheque for £75 compensation which will cover the costs I'd paid out and almost the cost of the battery charger I purchased from Halfords to get enough juice into the battery so I can get the car to the garage on the 10th. It does pay to complain, but I still won't be renewing my membership with the RAC next year.

IIRC, the Museum of the Home has a lovely collection of Georgian furniture.

Try to get a seat on the right side of the train as you get the best view of Knaresborough as it goes over the viaduct.
