Now on the train home and it's sunny out there. Apparently the car has passed the MOT and all the work has been done so I'll find out the cost when I get back.

Two and a half hours were spent in the Science Museum and I still didn't get to see one and a half floors - I'd forgotten how much I liked the place despite the hoards (and noise) of school parties running around. The scientific instruments and clocks/watches on the second floor are worth at least an hour on their own. Must keep an eye on cheap train tickets for a return visit.

It's been a lovely sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, but it's now clouded over and rather chilly. Rain forecast for overnight.

Slept ok. Still in a bit of a sleep deficit, but I'll take it. Did all the basic chores. Then I swept the hallway of all the "bits" that get tracked in from outside / falls off the firewood and dumped that in the green bin. Rounded up another bunch of stuff to put in this week's general waste collection, as well as a bag (mainly of socks, all too big for me) to put in the fabric recycling bin that's in the village hall car park.

My friend Linda told me about it - the money raised from selling the waste fabric goes into the village hall funds. I'd rather do that than to take stuff to the tip, even if it takes me a bit longer to clear things out. The village hall does a lot for the local community, so it's nice to put something back in.

Chores done, I went out to do another spot of lumberjilling. I cut up three wheelbarrows of firewood, hauled it back and stored it in the garage. I did have a deficit of small wood (basically the size between fine kindling / tinder and larger pieces) so I brought in about half a wheelbarrow of that. Easy to do, there's plenty of dry deadfall, and it's quick to process with a pair of loppers.

Then a rather late luncheon of avocado on toast, a tangerine and a :cuppa: was had.

This was followed by an afternoon of paperwork while watching some of the action from Cheltenham. I've ticked off another couple of items on the "to do" list, just have to wait for people to get back to me to complete those tasks. I have also determined that yesterday's phone call was a cold call / scam - after a bit of digging, I found that the number is apparently for a painting & decorating business in Norwich.

I'm now sat by the fire with a :cuppa: in the company of Madam Boo. I think I shall spend the rest of the evening writing. One of my characters is Mancunian, so I'm trying to get the flavour of the slang / dialect without it being obtuse. I do have a cat show friend who hails from Manchester, and so I'm using the way she talks as a template.

Google has decided I'm in Beeston today based on my IP address, all this travel without leaving my chair is enough to make my head spin.
