Why don't hospitals offer toast and tea

Some do ,some don't. When Mrs 73 was on the wards at our local hospital the powers that be removed all the wards toasters. Due to too many false call outs. The problem was not the wards, it was the Dr's who kept burning the toast in the Dr's mess. So they then had to waste time phoning down to the kitchen. Shortly later they removed the wards ice machine allng with other wards who had them. Never really explaining why.

Well the NHS worked well today.
The two junctions of the a14 we travelled was as busy as ever.
Upon returning home the rather full brown garden waste bin had been emptied and was having a rest on the pavement due to the heavy wind that was blowing.

Both green and brown bins are now returned to their normal resting place.

Lunchtime stroll completed in windy conditions.

Blowing gale here at the moment.I am so pleased I got out to do some weeding and digging yesterday.Plus a bit more this morning.It looks good for the first sortie of the year.

@tom73 or anyone else who might know - can you explain (in a nutshell) the difference between immunotherapy and chemotherapy in the treatment of secondary liver cancer. Or you could suggest a straight-forward website I should read.

I met someone yesterday whose Mother is receiving immunotherapy for secondary liver cancer.

Continued greyness in Suffolk with the wind picking up quite a bit.

The car has finally been exercised with a trip just over the border into Norfolk & back. I managed to get all the shopping done by parking at one supermarket then walking down to the second one and back almost quicker than I could have driven between the two. I'm now tempted to have half an hour's snooze before starting to cook tea.

I met someone yesterday whose Mother is receiving immunotherapy for secondary liver cancer.

Simply the difference is one is more medication based than the other.
Immunotherapy users the body's immune system to identify and destroy cancer cells. It comes in more than one type. It's a more recent treatment than chemotherapy.
Chemotherapy users medication to kill cancer cells, it attacks the cells life cycle.Depending on which drug depends at which point in the cells life cycle it attacks. Unlike Immunotherapy a side effect is suppressing the immune system. Which is why you have to be a bit careful when having it.

My working day and week is drawing to a conclusion.
It's been a tad windy here today.

Not sure completely but when I was in Hospital the taps in my sideroom* said 'Not Drinking Water', the explanation I was given was that the water came from rooftop tanks to those taps so was not safe to drink.

*When I broke my Femur the mens orthopeadics/surgical ward was full so they put me in a sideroom of the womens ward, full of 'grannies' who'd had hip/knee replacements and quite a few had dementia.............these spent most of the night shouting "Nurse,nurse"
I spoke to one of the nurses about this and she told me a couple of these old women were from retirement homes and the homes didn't want them back so the Hospital had nowhere to discharge them to.............One had been there for 5-6 weeks as Social Services couldn't find a place that would accept her.

A side note,i had intended to volunteer to do some painting on the open refresh day at church.After yesterdays digging,and having to stop for a break,i have had a rethink,i don't think i should push myself.

It was that bad here in Leeds i did not go round the corner for my afternoon choc bar.

It's true about many of the sinks on wards the ice machine used water from the ward kitchen. The same tap they use to fill up the jug of water you drink. So was clearly drinkable.
Sadly this is very true and a real problem, Mrs 73 use to have patients who's relatives would get them admitted and go on holiday for weeks.
One very regular one was a retied GP who wife did it all the time. He was a right handful never did anything they asked him to and always question the meds they gave him. She was equally a nightmare to deal with. Even when she came back she made it really difficult to discharge him. Another common time is Christmas when relatives just dump them at A and E, known as granny dumping in health circles.

Windy then raining then windy. Heard something whilst WAH and found Evri had left a parcel; a new floor mop for floor wipes. Oddly seems to be something you cannot walk into a store and buy. All seem to sell every other type of mop. Ancient old one has given up gripping a wipe.
