Coffee and toast break. A bike ride would have been easier and possibly taken less time than the grass. Six black sacks of compressed dead thatch, moss and a little bit of grass clippings - I ran out of sacks so had to re-open and kneel on the already used ones to compress the contents to make room. And of course the recycling centre is closed on Wednesdays so I can't get rid of it until Friday as I plan on another day out on Thursday .

I took my friend's bike for a road test, all was going well until I started changing up through the gears. 4th ,5th ,6th and it started jumping. Why didn't he tell me he had problems. I returned home and swapped the wheel for a 7 speed wheel which I had and set off again. All was fine and no jumping. When I got back I had a close look at the sprockets on the wheel I took off. Burrs on the teeth! Yes been grinding away in too high a gear. He does it in his cars as well. A phone call to the LBS in Corsham and a drive over there for them to fit a new block.
I will fit the wheel after I've had a nap.

your friend will be be grateful. or did they gift you the bike? sorry if I missed a previous post

Car swap done with son no. 2 - he's got the 18,000 mile Vauxhall Agila and I've got his (my old) Peugeot Tepee back. After 180,000 miles it's almost end-of-life with several issues so we'll see whether the MOT garage laugh or pass it next month.

Spindles bike shop in Corsham is a nice place. I took my friend's bike over yesterday to see if they could remove the drive side BB cup . They did. It needed a 5ft long scaffolding pole to shift it. I went back in the afternoon with my Pinarello frame which also had a BB to be removed, Campag. They let me borrow a tool. I took it back later after having got the cups to move. Sadly it seems as though they are seized up inside as when I unscrew one side the other side winds in.

I hope you spent some serious money with them!
Fine words don't butter parsnips and certainly don't pay the rent.

My friend says that his gears weren't slipping! Jumping Jack Flash! It was slipping like mad! Mind you all he said about his crank was that it made a clicking noise, it felt like it was about to fall off. The bearings had gone. I had a close look at the rear sprockets. I couldn't see then before we they were covered in so much muck. The teeth have raised burrs indicating that he is using too high a gear and straining on the pedals. I wouldn't have thought that it would be any good for his replacement hip or knee.

It's been a lovely warm and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well enough, but still down on quantity. Five hours isn't enough. So downstairs, fed the cat, made myself a :cuppa: and took it back upstairs. Laptop opened and some admin and a chunk of writing done. Slowly ticking off all the paperwork that needs doing.

Got up at a sensible hour, did all the chores. Extra additions today was sorting another bag of clothes for the clothes bank, washing my hair, and doing some laundry.

Lovely luncheon of toast with brie, a :cuppa: and a tangerine.

Topped up the wood bins in the house, then popped out to a friend's place for a chat and to pick her brain. Thence to Tesco, as bread and milk were needed. Picked up some dented tins of chopped tomatoes in the green bins. B&M was visited on the way home to get some doggy chocolate for an upcoming canine birthday and some tuna cat food for Madam Boo.

Lovely supper of the rest of the garlic mushroom pasta whilst watching "Deadliest Catch"

Now sat by the fire listening to the football.
