Once shopping had been shopped this morning, a lazy day ensued. (Slight hiccup as we had to return to the shops to find MrsPete's mislaid spectacles that were eventually found in the boot of the car... Don't ask 😂)
Short walkies with Bonnie on our return then a sit in the sunshine in the garden to read my book & drink coffee for an hour or so.. 👌

It's irritating that the various 'powers that be' automatically assume that EVERYONE is fully IT / internet etc. literate and puts more & more stuff online with various apps and so on so we can 'save time & effort' by doing it ourselves at our own convenience.
Rather like assuming that all lad can fix a car and all lasses can sew and make clothes.
My example is I had to arrange to open a new bank account in order to transfer my late sister's accounts into for probate.
I was in the only branch of said bank in the city, a long standing banking business and in a pretty imposing building.
Could I open an account there - ?
No chance, I had to go home and download the app and then navigate my way through all the checks & security hoops to do so,
Later on, I had to phone the banks bereavement team who wanted a serial number from the new account. As it was on my cellphone, I had no Idea how to carry on talking to the lass and check the new banking app at the same time. Apparently, it can be done, but I'm clueless as to how.
I'm 72 and do not have the 'expected' IT knowledge that many assume that everyone apparently has.
Not impressed. :cursing:

How can you do nothing all day and be tired. So we left Leeds at 10-07 to drive to the fish and chip shop near Blackpool. Then off to the Garden Centre for coffee and cake, then called at the house, someone has been in and fiddled with the central heating control switch, they have disconnected it,so through winter the house has had no heat.Right Thursday is supposed to be cash handing over day,if 'we' not me don't hear anything 'we' are going to instruct a solicitor to find out who authorised and who disconnected the central heating without seeking permission.Thursday is going to be interesting.Anyway home at 17-30 and i am listless,i am having a pint of 00 Guinness then having an early night,i have two very small veg beds to weed tomorrow and i am told it might be hot and humid similar to Drago's y fronts.

@simongt i feel your pain and anguish as this is the kind of thing that seems to be happening more and more with leass care for the customer being shown

Shimano pedals I bought at the weekend had a folded A1 sheet of paper referring to instructions on line. For the length of text in each language they could have printed some basic instructions, assuming a purchaser might actually need them.

Evening Sainsburys shop primarily for apples cheapish milk. Total was less than half thanks to Nectar points.

I’ve also called into Sainsbury’s this evening , went to self service till no one around and thought it’s been on the finish screen a while. Next minute out the change slot comes £5 note. So left the shop with an extra £5 in my pocket.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
@simongt - my father's the same. He needed to re-claim the stamp duty from a house purchase and they wanted a Government Gateway ID to do it.

We got there eventually, ID created and refund submitted, but he wouldn't be able to do it himself.

It's been a warm and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, but with a chilly south-easterly breeze.

Did not sleep well - five hours plus a short additional nap. Came downstairs, fed the cat (she's decided that dry food is what suits her), made a :cuppa: and took it back upstairs. Spent a couple of hours writing.

Threw clothes on, cleared the chores and then went outside to cut up some firewood. The lengths I stacked behind the shed have dried out nicely, and got through half of them. Got all of that into the log store in the garage, then had a furkle in the shed for the 10-litre can of fertilizer that I don't need but that my friend Linda could potentially use. If it's sheep-safe, she can have it.

Had a lovely luncheon of a roll filled with Polish sausage and some Ossau-iraty cheese, a banana yoghurt (plain yoghurt with a banana mashed into it) and my little pot of tea.

Spent some time reading, then went to Linda's to drop off her share of the smoked salmon that I picked up on YS the other day, and pick up the crockery that she forgot to give me yesterday. Had some cat and doggy cuddles as well.

Cooked a fabby supper of eggs foo yung with rice. (a veggie version with tofu)

Listened to Sporting v Arsenal. Ooooh, we left it late.

A quiet evening is planned, but I do still need to wash up.

I'm inclined to nod off over this over-hyped drive around the block.....

Note to media: We have boldly been there before, humans have in fact seen the far side of the moon before and we've even mapped it. So can we drop the Star Trek refs and the idea that this crew are seeing things no-one has seen?....in a word....Apollo.

Trust someone to ruin the magic...

Look at the photos the crew took. They're breathtaking.

And it's one of these instances where the more you see, the less you realise you know. It's good valid science topped with a sprinkling of stardust. And I'd rather public money be spent on this than on entitled numpties lobbing spendy missiles at each other.

A quiet evening has been had - once I'd managed to re-assemble the bag of bits from my saddle bag that used to be a multi-tool back into something roughly multi-tool shaped.

The evening's hot chocolate is about to be made.
