It's been a grey but quite warm day here chez Casa Reynard.

I had a rough old night. Brain wouldn't switch off, and then I had one of those old "too hot, too cold" episodes. So woke up feeling rather bleurgh. Went downstairs, fed the cat and took a :cuppa: back to bed, where I sat with the laptop and did some writing and planning.

At a more decent hour I went and cleared the chores. Then I puttered about in the garden - watered the planters, did a bit of weeding, potted up some sage cuttings and potted on a lavender plant and some parsley.

Had a lovely luncheon of two teacakes turned into cheese & smoked sausage toasties, a tangerine, half a punnet of cherries and a pot of tea. I had intended on a roast beef roll, but the teacakes were in danger of developing language skills.

Did a bit of admin, and then took the strimmer out for an hour. Did the bit outside the hedge that the council are supposed to cut but never do - that was knee high in there. It now looks a LOT more tidy. Also did a bit more in the garden around the drifts of forget-me-nots.

A bitsas supper tonight - cleared up the last half a Cornish pasty, the last of the swede, the remaining of last night's pasta and made a further dent into the stash of braised red cabbage.

I've just washed up. Plan on a nice quiet remainder of the evening.

That's me done with away days for another month so the overnight bag just got emptied when I arrived home this afternoon and won't be restocked until late May.

A little bit of food shopping was done late afternoon and the early evening has been spent playing with figures and trying to get banking apps to do what I wanted with the two ISAs I have maturing at the end of the month (essentially taking the interest and then reinvesting the capital). If I've done my sums right, once I've topped up my emergency cash funds there should be enough left over for a small splurge on a potential away day in July, a hotel booking in November & train tickets for July.

It's now time for a hot chocolate.

An early start tomorrow morning for a trip to north Wales to collect the cheap car I won at auction on Tuesday.

It'll be taxi / rail replacement bus / train / train / probably bus then lunch and a walk over Pontcysyllte Aqueduct before we collect the car nearby.

Hopefully it'll get back without incident but I'll have oil, water, a tyre repair kit, toolkit, fuses, bulbs, tie straps and duct tape just in case.
