Seemed that everyone had taken the RSPBs advice on what to feed birds seriously as The Range was out of mealworm feeders. Birds seem to be coping with them in a sunflower heart feeder but there are a few trapped at the bottom.
Morrisons, next but one, for once had good discounts on a number of items I normally buy so the £6 off £30 voucher used easily.
This afternoon the lawns scarified
Not as mossy as last year as there is still space in the garden wheelie bin.

We just bought a new hosepipe and reel, Hozelock 50m on reel cart (I finally convinced Maz that buying cheap hoses every couple of years was a false economy) Amazon £71 plus £5 delivery, Toolstore £66 and free delivery for the same thing.
Now this may seem expensive for a hose but it has a 5yr guarantee and having spent @£15-20 every couple of years on crap hosepipes that leak at the fittings and split after a winter or two (and aren't long enough) a 50metre quality hose is cheaper.
Anyway getting away from the point, Toolstore worked out a tenner cheaper than 'Amazon' for an identical item
IME many Amazon items are cheaper elsewhere. Always Google an item. Having said that I did order a new garden table cover from then yesterday as I failed to find the same well recommended one cheaper elsewhere. Current one is getting a brittle and having duct tape added to it at regular intervals.
As it's still nice out ,I've moved round to the back garden and had a bit of a tidy up. The storage area which is always full of weeds from next door. Has been membraned and pegged down , the longer team plan is to build a frame and gravel it. To become a seating area, the bench for now has been moved up to near the pond. My old mover which needs to go to the tip has been moved to out of the way area. Which has opened up the path round the back of the house. Last thing was to weed an area of dead grass ready to reseed later.

It's been a nice enough day here chez Casa Reynard.
Sleep was ok, but still a tad short-changed. I've had a quiet weekend away from social media and away from doing anything constructive in order to recharge the batteries. I've been sitting back watching lots of snooker, the football, action from Prescott and various other bits and bobs. Cooking has been non-existent, there being plenty of bits in the fridge that wanted eating.
Without the distractions, I've also done a good bit of writing.
Currently watching Higgins v O'Sullivan and thinking about getting something together for supper.

I have been finding some strange things in my compost bin.
They are about the size of a broad bean, but with straight sides. The casing is bronze in colour and shiny. Does anyone know that it is?
At a guess it looks like a body of a large beetle, without legs or a head.

On an entirely different subject, I think it is now a year since I drank anything alcofrolic. That started when I felt so ill last year, just after Easter. I received the diagnosis of secondary liver cancer on 1st May, last year. I do not think they said "no alcohol" but I decided that it would be a good idea, and not difficult.

Not a bad day out and it was even quite warm (for Snetterton in April that is). I didn't bother staying for the last couple of races as one was a 30 minute race with only three entrants and the other had a much reduced entry after their first encounter earlier in the day.
The evening has been spent watching the Silverstone 3 hour GT race on catch up and trying to decide how to vote in the local elections. I'm not actually voting FOR anyone, just trying to vote to stop someone getting in.
No bin needs to be moved for emptying tomorrow as it's recycling bin day and mine is only half full.
