I cycled to Aughnanure castle today and stopped enroute to visit a former lead mine. As someone who likes wide open spaces, having to work in a mine shaft would be horrible. I couldn't wait to get out. Interesting all the same and makes you realise how badly the landed gentry treated their peasants.

I was very lucky with the weather. 73 miles covered in total.

I've never cycled on Continental Europe but constantly read about how much better the standard of driving, yet all the dangerous and close overtakes I've had today were all French, Dutch or German registered motorhomes. I observed this in the Hebrides too.

I really liked the Elizabethan Ford Ranger in the castle grounds. Really blended in to the surroundings.

I'm still keeping an eye on the localish one - it has a bid on Ebay, but is below whatever reserve has been set. I really don't need it and have nowhere to store it, but...

Thankfully for my wallet it's been ended 'due to an error in the listing' and not re-listed. Wonder if the seller & bidder came to an off site agreement.
However there is another which is half the price but appears to have been photographed by someone with the shakes after too many coffees so the condition is difficult to ascertain. It also looks to be possible to get to by train fairly easily. Enquiries may be made next week!

Have a cup of tea 😸

It's been a warm, sunny and slightly blustery day here chez Casa Reynard. Plenty warm enough, but not roasting.

Slept pretty well, but a little short-changed. Downstairs, fed the cat, made a :cuppa: and took it upstairs for a session of writing. Some new material was generated, but largely, the time was spent editing, polishing and checking for continuity.

Down at a better hour. Chores done, non-fridgeable shopping put away, and white coat ironed. Annoyingly, it's picked up two stains from the clothes horse, but too late to re-wash. That coat is cotton drill and takes an age to dry. I'll have to wear it as is. Although I've also packed my short-sleeved white coat. This show has moved to a new venue, and I don't know what the hall will be like.

A lovely luncheon of wholemeal toast with luncheon meat and stratford blue cheese, greek yoghurt with a banana and honey, and a small pot of tea.

Had a quiet afternoon largely spent watching the coverage of Royal Ascot. So glad I don't bet, as I had a lousy day trying to pick the winners. I just enjoy the horses.

After, got ahead with a few things so that I can have a "me time" weekend.

Supper was pasta with cherry tomatoes and homemade basil & walnut pesto.

Now watching a bit of footy.

I did what I do best while waiting for the washing to finish this afternoon - faffed around and achieved absolutely nothing except for the need to pop out and get another tub of ice cream. And a spare box of the salted caramel Magnum lookalikes having sampled one of the ones in my freezer as well. Plus a Father's Day card thanks to a reminder from my sister.

Shopping done and put away, out came the deck chair, a pint of cold orange squash with added ice cubes and into the shade with a book & the radio for the remainder of the afternoon. The inactivity has continued into this evening as it's still to warm to do anything active - I should be doing bike cleaning & lubing, but my bike work shed is at the back of the house and west facing getting the afternoon & evening sun & warmth and has no opening window.

Not to he of surer foot, or those who endure!

Depends on the race, but around here, Facebook Marketplace is a sprint. Why I often walk around with cash money. Not a lot, but I have my bank nearby.
