No overheating worries round this way today - thanks to the wind direction and an open back gate funnelling the breeze it was lovely in the shade of the bike shed this afternoon. Plenty of cold orange squash, occasional trips into the kitchen for a couple of spoonfuls of ice cream, a good book & the radio.

Shopping needs to be done tomorrow, so I plan to be out earlyish to beat the inland heat.

It's been a hot and mostly sunny day here chez Casa Reynard after less overnight rain than others got.

Slept well, but woke up stupid early. An attempt to get back to sleep after needing the little girls' room was unsuccessful, so downstairs, fed the cat, made a :cuppa: and took it upstairs to do some writing. Did a decent bit, but got sidetracked by some interesting articles and browsing through what that bloke bought with funds embezzled from the SNP.

Did the chores at a better hour, and then did half an hour's scything, being able to work in the shade under the trees. Still very hot and sweaty work, though.

Had a lovely luncheon of a cheese salad sandwich, a pear with greek yoghurt and a small pot of tea.

Some more writing this afternoon, and then once the sun had moved round, took the scythe to the bit round the front that the council is supposed to cut but never do. After the rain we've had, and now the warmer weather, the nettles have shot up two feet in the space of a week! It's not neat, but it'll do. Besides, it's too hot to use the strimmer. And I can scythe in shorts and t-shirt.

Had a little bit of kitchen time to cook up some things that needed using, and then watched a mixture of football and Deadliest Catch.

A simple but tasty supper of a wrap filled with homemade onion bhajis and raita made with mint from the garden.

Now watching the England game.
