@biggs682 Just read that Pitsford School (with the lovely gateposts) is closing soon.. 🤷‍♂️

Yes i read that as well , might make a cheaky offer as pretty sure it could make a nice country residency with amble bike storage room.

But on the hand if posh schools can't make it work what chance do normal schools stand ?

Slight disaster watering this evening, went to water a clematis at the same time a gust of wind blew. Result two snapped stems, one was not doing much but the other did have a few buds.
Prior to that a Simply Food, for gift card free bread for toasting, and Sainsbury's shopped. The latter had blinds down on the fridges. Managed to retrieve from the sides what I wanted without having to lift any.

Bins have still not been emptied. They can't use the excuse that it was too warm as I passed a recycling collection on my way through Stowmarket this morning.

Just a 10 minute snooze on the sofa this afternoon, that was followed by a couple of slices of toast for tea - despite the butter being in the shaded corner of the kitchen I could almost have poured it on the toast. Much better was the ice cream afterwards.

Still 28°C in the back garden, I still have all the windows and back door open and I'm sat here in just a pair of shorts boiling. I need a hydration break.

A super scorchio day here chez Casa Reynard.

Did not sleep well. Just restless in the sticky heat. So downstairs, fed the cat, made a :cuppa: and took it upstairs to do some writing. Didn't last long, and decamped back downstairs where it was less sticky.

Quickly cleared the chores. No sign of the Anglian Water work crew - unsurprising given it was 40C in the shade by the front door. My poor bimetallic strip thermometer went right off the scale when I walked into the sun on the drive.

Lovely luncheon of avocado on toast, a banana and a pot of tea.

Spent the afternoon writing and working on a painting. I also combed a cat out of a cat.

Supper was a plate of tuna pasta salad and a tomato salad on the side.

A quiet evening in front of the TV is being undertaken.

Condemned gas fire has been un-condemned after I was able to source the broken part when it was obsolete on British Gas' system. My thanks to a really helpful engineer last week who was able to provide the part details so I could find the one still available at one place in the UK.

My being too busy / indolent to remove the fire after it was condemned last year turned out to have a positive result ^_^
I've found parts for gas appliances that engineer wasn't able to source. But that was while British Gas Spares were down in Brighouse. I used them a fair bit, when I serviced portable appliances, for parts.
