If I was religious I'd be quoting the "Lead us not into temptation" part of The Lord's Prayer to Ebay. I've been emailed a 12% discount offer on a bike I'm watching and is still valid. My main problem is that it's in Uttoxeter which is a near 3.5 hour drive each way...

The weather reports say we should have thunder and rain right now. What we're getting is hotter.

It also smells like a swamp.

At some point things will break and everything will cool down. Hopefully.

No, still no break in the weather. It's so still it looks like the landscape is on pause: the only movement is the rising temperature.

At the current rate I fully expect to see alligators and a paddle steamer in the river tomorrow.

It's been a warm and breezy day here chez Casa Reynard, and noticeably less sultry.

Slept pretty well. Downstairs, feed the cat, make a and take it upstairs to do some writing. Still a bit too warm upstairs to sit with the laptop on my lap, so gave up after a bit and decamped to the dining room.

Did the chores, then spent the rest of the morning in the garden scything nettles.

Lovely luncheon of an onion bhaji, salad & mint raita sandwich while listening to the F1.

Had a quiet afternoon dozing in a camping chair in the garden listening to assorted sports. Then did some work on a painting

Watched South Africa v Canada while eating supper. Finished the tuna pasta salad and the fruit jelly.

A quiet evening is planned.
