Flick of the Elbow

Suburban Edinburgh
Been out on the bike today, just shy of 50 miles with my glw. Followed the coast from South Queensferry to Bo’ness where we bought rolls for lunch. Saw the train as it sedately passed by. Then onto Kinneil and back past House of Binns and Ratho to join the canal home. After a coolish start the sun appeared mid morning, temperature now 25°, feels like 23.

My working day completed
Just in time for granddaughters school performance

Now arrived in Rippingale, near Bourne. This is our base for the next few days to do BCQs part 1, Lincolnshire. No Airbnb in the area so having to stay at the local pub. Accommodation is in a separate building (barn conversion). Seems very nice. Will be forced to eat in the pub. Tough life 😉

Next week moving north to an Airbnb in Minting, to do part 2

Rough night despite the cure for insomnia that was Switzerland and Columbia
Gave up on that at normal full time. Shoulder was aching so put some deep heat on it which simply made it worse
Hence a pre breakfast visit to Asda for some deep freeze which seems to have done the trick.
First postal delivery of week was the tub of grippy stuff for the new bike.
WFH/WAH was too much time spent addressing emails. Must be a scale of loss of productivity v increased emails

It's been a hot and mostly sunny day here today chez Casa Reynard, with an overcast rolling in for a while after midday.

Slept well enough. Could've been better, but as it's lady issue time, could've been a lot worse. So downstairs, feed the cat, make a :cuppa: and take it upstairs to do some writing. I should explain that my bedroom / office is very pleasant and cool before the sun moves around, and so it's nice to slob comfortably on the bed along with Madam Boo whilst writing. Spent the time untangling the mess I wrote yesterday - successfully might I add. That was accomplished by using the delete button quite a bit. The end result was a tighter bit of writing that finally bridged two sections of this chapter.

Did the chores at a better hour. Watered all the planters. Noticed that someone sluggy has eaten all of the marigolds in one of the planters next to the front door. Drat. At least the petunias are mostly untouched.

As it had clouded over, I decided to head out to scythe more nettles. Did quite a nice chunk this morning, so really pleased. But something bit me through my shirt, and I now have two rather itchy lumps, one on each arm.

Had a lovely luncheon of a soft white bap filled with lettuce, watercress, coleslaw and chicken, plus an orange, some strawberries and a small pot of tea.

Had a lovely afternoon doing some more writing. And I listened to the tennis while grabbing a nice bit of relaxation in the garden. Now watching Deadliest Catch and supping on a :cuppa:

Slight panic, the Royal Mail app was saying the handlebar ANT+ controller for the new bike had been delivered to my safe place last Friday. It wasn't there then I spotted it on top of a container. Must have walked past it numerous times. Was cheaper to order separately from a different supplier.

A timer plug has been ordered to go with the fan - it's mainly going to be used in my bedroom and I don't want it running all night. The plan is to set it to run for just the first hour after I go to bed and to start again about 7 hours later before I wake up. I thought I had one in the house, but it must have been chucked out in one of my clear outs.

Yet another very quiet afternoon in the shade with cold (non alcoholic) drinks, reading material and the radio has been had and the evening's hot chocolate will shortly be made.
