I've been away with the bike, but it spent most of the time locked on the back of the van.
My, Bristol cyclists are a bit aggressive. Everyone seems to be trying for a PB.
Now I'm away without the bike. The tracker keeps telling me where it is. But I know, hope, it's locked up in the garage at home.
Bikeless in Yorkshire.

It's been a warm and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard after a cool and grey start.

Slept well, but somewhat short changed. No matter. Downstairs, fed the cat, made a :cuppa: and took it back upstairs to do some writing. Made a good start on the next chapter - not the one I'd originally intended. Decided to swap a couple round to give the reader a bit of a break from the really intense stuff.

Back downstairs at a better hour to clear the chores. Brought the bin in, put all the cans of beans and the cat food away, and made a batch of fagioli al rosmarino dip - basically any white beans (in this case haricot), blitzed up with olive oil, rosemary, garlic, lemon, salt and lots of black pepper.

As it was still reasonably cool, I went out to do some gardening. Today's task was raking up all the dried up nettles that I scythed last week, and then shoving those in the green bin. I had to tamp things down with a sledgehammer, and my green bin in now absolutely chocka.

A lovely luncheon of two slices of seeded toast, one with marinated anchovies, one with some bean dip, plus a golden kiwi fruit and a small pot of tea.

I had intended going back out into the garden to do some stuff, but I had a plot bunny that had to be put down onto paper - or in this case, a LibreOffice file. It's not related to my novel, but was an idea for an entirely new sci-fi project. And by the time I put all of those ideas and thoughts into writing, it was a bit too late to want to do any lumberjilling. So I sat outside instead, topping up the vitamin D levels and listening to the cricket.

Also did a little bit of work on the painting that's on the go. Need to get my skates on for that, as I need it for next week.

Now watching France v Spain and thinking about some supper.

A visit to the office by ebike was axed by an email declaring the office door locks were playing up. Suspected the bike shed would be a low priority. Reason for going in was a meeting also available on Teams and quite glad I didn't as getting on with my work was more beneficial especially as the lead kept on forgetting to switch his mic on.

Coffee pod machine at irregular intervals is over pressuring normal size pods while being perfectly happy with XL ones. Result being a coffee full of grains. Thinking maybe it was filling it with the left over of the days chilled water it got tap coldish water last night. Result a coffee full of grains.

Arranged a "repair", hopefully a replacement with RM collecting it tomorrow. Found its box in the loft. Think it came in a thick black wrap or bag. Found some bubblewrap but no brown wrapping paper.

That then added to the evenings shopping and use of the ebike cancelled again in case a hunt was needed.

Morrisons tried as tinned decaff coffee is on offer there and of course sold out. They did have some wrapping paper. Could not get out of the place. The gates that open when you have paid would not. Saw some other customers getting through another set so did the same pushing the gate only to get told off by a member staff for not waiting for them to open it.

Er.. doesn't say that might have more a more appropriate response than flipping stupid place. Needs to be like Lidl with a receipt scanner opening the gates but thats probably too much technology for Morrisons.

The cloud cover this morning didn't last for too long before the sun came out. Unfortunately the light winds didn't either and the afternoon bike ride was another battle with the breeze.

I also discovered this morning that Iceland (the food sellers before anyone gets any ideas) gives a 10% discount on Tuesdays for the over 60s as I popped in to replenish the ice cream stock while I was in town. One little bonus of being an old fart.

Add on top of the above the usual radio/cold drink/deck chair/shade/reading material combination for the later part of the afternoon and it's just been another nicely relaxed day.
