Half day WFH. Why, well I decided earlier in the week we were going away for just the night. Temperature was cooling down, and somewhere local will do - short journey. Cleared it with the cat sitter (my daughter) and booked a night in Southport. It's an hour away. Not been since before the kids were born. Picked the Premier Inn as you get a good night's kip (been missing a decent night's sleep recently with temperature and one of the cat's insisting we get up at 5am). Some of the bigger hotels were cheaper, but the reviews were very mixed. Plan is just to have a wander, find a nice pub, maybe find one that has live music (one has been identified and has someone on this evening). Food is sorted, paid a little extra for breakfast and evening meal. Looking forward to not doing much !

You artists paint such wonderful subjects, Van Gogh painted a chair,

I painted the conservatory yesterday and am about to paint the decking. However, I work in two colours only; mid-brown and light grey. Anything else would just be too complicated.

Edit the above: the decking paint colour I thought I ordered isn't the colour which was in the tins. Oops! It's a more contemporary colour. There may be words later from SWMBO when she sees it. Me? It looks OK and I'm already onto the second tin, so that's what's going on.

Good morning from a nicely warm Suffolk where the sun is shining through some thin, high cloud. Coffee has been had and a load of washing is about half way through being done.

Absolutely nothing needing to be done today as the domestics can wait until after the weekend or perhaps Sunday when it's supposed to be a bit dull and possibly wet. As a result, once the washing's been done and pegged out on the whirlygig I'm going to get a bike out and disappear for two or three hours.
