Another pleasantly warm autumnal day here chez Casa Reynard, sunny to start, but a cloudy finish.

Sleep was odd. Fell asleep watching the sumo. Woke up halfway through the Jonidan division. Went to bed, and just wasn't warm enough. Eventually gave in and shinned into jim jams. Dropped off again, but was well past 5am. Next thing I know, it's half eleven. Whoops! Anyway, downstairs, fed the cat, made myself a :cuppa: and took it back upstairs to do some writing. Also sat and listened to qualifying from Baku.

Downstairs when that was done. Cleared the chores, and put a load of laundry in - all the large dark items that were glaring at me balefully while waiting to be hand washed. Aaaaah, bliss, to just chuck things in the machine and let it get on with itself. No leakage from the closed valve while machine was in use. Also swept the path, as we're starting to get fallen leaves.

Had a lovely luncheon of two slices of toast, one with Brussels pate and the other with Cheshire cheese, plus Greek yoghurt with a pear and some honey, and a small pot of tea.

Spent the afternoon strimmering. Not the easiest task, as I've done something to the knuckle at the bottom of my right index finger. It really hurts when I use my hand. Now, I am left handed, but it's only when something hurts that you realise how much you use your other hand. And how much stuff is designed for right-handed people.

After, went to Tesco for groceries. The only YS items today was a pack of sourdough rolls and a small tub of coleslaw.

A raid-the-fridge supper was had. Toast with Polish pickled herrings to use up the last of the old bread, a couple of vegetable pakoras, some baklava and a nice :cuppa:

Just going to have a nice chilled evening.

Another blat on the new toy which continues to impress with its combination of comfort and speed despite the aerodynamic brick of the old git riding it in baggy shorts and top sitting quite upright. Loving the continuing unseasonable sunshine and warmth.

I think it's time to open a bottle (or three) of some form of falling over water and catch up with the action from Baku.

Yes I can remember people taking their takings in the evening and putting them into the night safe in the banks back in the 70's.

I still did that , sometimes twice a day, in the 80's, 90's, early 2000s before film processing went away, along with most custom labs and photographic equipment shops, and our shop was all three. I was the manager/bookkeeper as well. But digital is better for my photos.

I'd used the banks night safe as late as 2012. Especially on late night opening, usually only the Thursday of each week but we did two late nights per week in December.

The building/company insurance didn't cover for cash over £100 left on the premises overnight.
