[Flick of the Elbow]

A fabulous pink and orange dawn this morning, shepherds warning and all that. Rain was forecast from mid morning so headed out fairly sharpish (half eight) to beat the worst of it. Got a bit damp in the last bit but other than that 30 dry miles. Proper rain has now set in for most of the afternoon, which I will be spending in front of the telly watching the men’s road race.

My glw has sent me a photo from yesterday’s first day of her 4 day trek in Assynt, looks rather fabulous. (I fear that they are getting a bit wet today though).

That's the brake bleed completed and a really enjoyable 15 mile on and off road test ride done to check everything works as it should (and it does). It's good to have the Ti Elan back in service as it's the best all round bike I've got.

Yikes definitely avoiding SRAM now.

It's a lot easier than it sounds. The main problem is making sure you don't drop the bleed port screws on the shed floor as they're tiny T10 Torx jobs.

I thought SRAM used mineral oil, not DOT fluid?

The newly released MTB stuff does (as per all Shimano), but the road brakes are still DOT.

The coffee table and floor underneath have been covered in a couple of towels and a sheet destined for the bin. I'm about to dismantle and deep clean a really grotty rear derailleur and don't want to get anything on the carpet.

Worked out this afternoon if I go outside with a T shirt on it rains, put a lightweight waterproof coat on and it does not.

Cupboard under stairs tided. Had a 3 x 9 litre boxes of lightbulbs in it plus similarly sized tray of them, timer switches, surplus aerial leads and associated qbits, an elderly 10.inch TV and a long unused floor lamp plus tins of paint and somewhere behind all that the "fusebox".

TV and floorlamp (once fully disassembled as it was more scrap metal than small electrical appliance) taken to the recycling site and all the high electricity using lightbulbs (which the local charity shop said they would take) bagged in the car boot.

Down to 1 9 litre box of lightbulbs and another now full of all items bar the paint which are easily moved to access the "fuse box'.

Mystery is amongst the clutter outside of it of tins of paint that needed putting back my 1m metal rule was not hiding. Now more puzzled as to where it has gone.
