A bright and sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, after a decidedly chilly night.
Did not sleep well. Mind wouldn't switch off, and I wasn't quite warm enough. Which meant adding another throw to the bed. Woke up too early, turned over, nodded off again, and then woke up too late. So downstairs, fed a very hungry cat, made myself a
and took it upstairs to do some reading.
When tea was finished, I zipped through the chores. Knocked back and shaped the bread dough after its overnight bulk ferment, then got kitted up and went out to carry on with the lumberjilling. Also had to cut away a tangle of elderberry bushes and ivy so that I could work safely. Cut three wheelbarrows of large lumps and one of small to medium sized wood. Ideally I need to saw the big lumps in half lengthways, but the chain on the saw is a bit too blunt for that. Sharpening is only a temporary solution, so a new chain is on the agenda at some point.
By the time I was done, the bread was ready to go into the oven and bake while I knocked off for a bite to eat.
Had a lovely luncheon of a roast pork sandwich, a minneola and a small pot of tea.
Put on a load of laundry, then back out to get all the cut wood under cover. Shoved it with the rest I've cut in recent days. Also took the time to clear the path around the shed (it's slick with mud and fallen leaves) and to cut back some unwanted rampant gooseberry bushes and shove the clippings in the green wheelie bin. By the time I'd done that, the laundry had finished cycling, so retrieved that and hung it up.
Have had a quiet evening watching the gymnastics.
The last of the broccoli & stilton soup for supper, followed by pasta with pesto Trapanese and Tunisian almond cigars to finish.
Just need to wash up in a bit, and then I can chill with a nice
