Music festivals planned for this (wet) bank holiday !!

A few miles from me the Creamfields festival is planned with 80,00 people each day expected.
There are some 20 festivals planned in the Merseyside area alone so goodness knows how many are planned nationwide.
There are going to be some very wet festival goers.
I have never been to one, its not something I ever fancied but I do feel for both the attendees and to some extent the organiser.s

Well, they found the pre-buried drugs at Creamfields so that's a few folks fun upended!!

Daughter & granddaughter are heading to one in Leeds where lots of bands I've never heard of are eagerly awaited.. 🤷‍♂️

We've a local one on a farm this weekend that's very popular. We'd had dry weather last year, and the weekend of the festival, it bounced it down both days. Was a mud bath. Never been to a full weekend/camping event - done a couple of local events where you can get home after. We had looked at "Y Not" festival, but the price got astronomical if you wanted to sleep in your van on site.

It's often pretty wet for Creamfields - we used to be coming back from Wales and could see all the cars covered in mud on the motorway.

I've done Green Man twice, both times when my Morris side were performing as one of the "field performance" groups. It stayed dry over the weekend both times, but one had been raining pretty heavily in the lead upo, and was a bit of a mud bath, though we were able to find hard standing to dance on.

We were due to do a Sealed Knot even in Oxfordshire this weekend, but it was decided two weeks ago to call it off because of the fire risk - totaly dry ground with muskets and cannons using gunpowder is not a good mix. Although there was rain forecast, they couldn't be sure it would be enough, and we had a previous incident 20 years or so ago, which we did NOT want to repeat

We have stewarded at a couple of festivals this year, both had pretty good weather, one heavy shower at Beautiful Days last weekend, otherwise fine. There was one tent fire at it when someone caused a fire and burnt their hands when doing something with their gas fridge (inside the tent 😳) , they had to be cut put of the tent but no serious injuries luckily.

A long time ago, quite a few people would bury booze at the Bowl in MK, in the weeks leading up to big gigs. It actually seemed like a great idea for the amount of time I spent queuing the last time I went there.

Most festival goers know there's always a risk that the weather won't be ideal. It's just part of going to an outdoor festival. I've not been to one in over a decade* now but I'd rather get wet then suffer heat stroke. Shade is rare in the fields.

*being in my 50s means I cant be away from a proper sofa for more than a day... otherwise I'll get grumpy.
