If you know what's good for you ...
Am I going to be the first to put up a link to classical music?Well, so be it...
I have always found that classical music can have a great power to creep. Stanley Kubrick believed so too, which is why he used it in so many of his films. Take Bartók's Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta - which is one of my personal favourites. I first discovered this eery music when I was a teenager, it literally blew away my mind and started my love for 20th century classical. It's was used many times in The Shining, but most famously here:

It remains one of the pieces of music I find the creepiest to this day. I also find the simple tune composed by Ligeti in Eyes Wide Shut to be disturbing. It's amazing how just a few simple notes played on the piano can have such an effect.

The Wolfs theme from Peter and the Wolf, still gives me the shivers today.

My parents gave me a narrated version on vinyl when i was a small child, probably to broaden my education.

They should have given me vouchers for psychotherapy to go with it.

he uses a ligeti piece on in 2001 too. maybe not creepy but certainly disturbing. I think ligetti had to sue to get his fee too

Not the actual song itself, but the fact that so many people don't understand the meaning of it, mistaking it for a song of undying love and devotion.

The choice of many grooms to their brides on their wedding day.

Not really "creepy" as such, but the World In Action theme brings back feelings of dread and angst as a kid growing up in the 1970s.

I heard the full length version on Planet Rock the other day - amazing (didn't catch who did it though). I once freaked out someone by playing the intro to Tubular Bells. Didn't know that they were terrified of The Exorcist movie:whistle:.
